13. He's gotten more and more openly political thanks to Bushco....
He's been saying Bush should be impeached at his concerts for awhile,
I believe.

Isn't he going to give some sort of free concert during the GOP
Convention as part of the counter-convention?

14. He's the best!
Did anyone look at the discussion boards on the site? I'm frankly astounded at the number of conservatives in a frenzy that Bruce has done this.

Who exactly have they been listening to all these years? This is a surprise?

He's always been one of the good guys.

15. I am thrilled but a little surprised
I am pretty sure a few years ago I heard he was a Republican. I was disappointed. Or perhaps I jumped to this conclusion due to some appearances he made at Republican events???

In any event, this is wonderful.

17. My impression
is that he's tended to be pretty issues-oriented without necessarily claiming allegiance to a particular party. He often raises money for food banks and other good causes.

He did suggest during the last tour that folks read Al Franken's latest book. And he talked about thinking for yourself, and finding out about the issues for yourself, without letting the government feed you a line. (Big paraphrase, it was nearly a year ago!). He prefaced this bit by saying something about "whether you're a Democrat or a Republican". So he was certainly trying to get through to everyone.

Which says to me that this posting of Gore's speech is even more meaningful.

18. I don't think he made ANY appearances at Repug events
But didn't Reagan try to co-opt "Born in the USA"for one of his campaigns??-- dreadfully ironic since it was a song about a guy totally ruined by Vietnam. Bruce was not pleased, as I recall.

But Bruce has always had his heart in the right place-- witness his numerous benefits over the years for the unemployed, his participation in the "No Nukes" movement, and his VERY strong statements during last year's tour against Bush and his warmongering and destruction of civil liberties.

19. I'd forgotten about the No Nukes concerts for a minute there
It was great! But, yes, Bruce was the main attraction there by far. (I remember Chaka Khan being really pissed that everyone was yelling "Bruce!" all through her performance...)

And, yes, Reagan attempted to use Born in the USA. Bruce answered that with a pretty strong rebuke at his concerts that year.

(I apologize for getting side-tracked there... My "fandom" is showing!)
