Hannity is Defending the Freepers
HE says that the mean-spirited Freepers are the minority, and that most of them are very reasonablew.

Then in the next breath, he said that he has people working 24 hours a day scubbing the message boards on his web site of offensive messages. That are probably all posted by Freepers......

3. Offensive To Sean Means They Didn't Agree With Him
What he and others like him say is that you can speak if you agree with them - otherwise, you are not to speak.

10. You may be right...
Don't get me wrong. I am a good, hard working liberal like the rest of them, but we do the same thing on this website. If we don't like what someone else is saying, the moderators have the ability to shut down the thread or post. It is the administrator's of this website job to manage this website the way he sees fit. If he doesn't like something, it's gone. Same for Sean and his right wing website.

4. Actually, I've made a study of message board social interaction
Fact is, Sean Hannity and Free Republic don't get along as you might think. It's not the extreme of the Lucianne Goldberg/Freakerland falling out, but there was a falling out of sorts.

9. Oddly enough, it appears message boards cannot survive docrtinal
splits amongst the membership. Once there is a doctrinal difference, the flamefests grow at such an astronomical rate that a schizm is the natural occurence, usually resulting in a couple of viable message boards related to the same topic.

I've found these splits to be even more pronounced in the politically related message boards, especially on the right. The left has them, too, but the schizms are never as clearcut and usually result in other message boards that are somewhat different, but the original message board retains much of the membership that moves on to the new message board, just not as much of their attention.
