Did anyone notice today's Reagan headline faux pas on Yahoo?
Currently, the Yahoo / Reuters story is:

"Reagan Body Taken Through Streets of Washington"
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/reagan_dc

...and earlier the same headline appeared as

"Reagan Body Moves Through Streets of Washington"

Obviously the word "moves" refers to the "procession," but not if you read the sentence quickly as I did...

:wtf:

1. actually, the Yahoo headline I saw, that probably was before this one
Edited on Wed Jun-09-04 06:12 PM by Marianne
said that "Reagan goes to Washington"...

I wondered at the time, if there was some jounalistic prohibition against referring to a "body" being transported.

The image I got from that one was one where Ronald Reagan was still alive and was going to Washington.

3. That might be the one I saw...
...hard to remember the correct wording because they yanked it so quickly, but the structure of the sentence implied movement of Reagan, NOT the motorcade...

Everyone is in such a hurry to post more and more and MORE Reagan material that they've apparently forgotten the importance of proofreading...

2. which is the faux pas?
"Reagan Body Taken Through Streets of Washington" is reminiscent of Fallujah.

4. Unfortunately
His body was not taken through the streets of Washington like Mussolini's body was taken through the streets of Rome.

5. Reminds me of the old summer camp trick
of passing a kid around with several people supporting him/her with only four fingers.
