8. A writ of douchbaggery!!!!
I gotta give it to Jon Stewart! I don't think I'd have ever thought of that one!

This was his comment when Ashcroft said he wasn't invoking the 5th ammendment or Executive Priviledge. Jon said, gee Mr. AG, you gotta invoke something, maybe a writ of douchbaggery?

This is a good show tonight!

12. I didn't get to see it tonight...
...unless I can stay awake to catch it at midnight. Jon's gotten smoldery lately when he talks about this obvious bullshit the evil admin is pulling--look at his eyes--he's kidding, but he's quite deliberate in his insults.

He's getting good at handing out the "douchebag" label, too. I think Novak (?) was the first designated douchebag.

13. I don't know if they replay it in your area, but they do here.
Check your listings for the Daily Show tomorrow night a little earlier in the evening. The show is on here at 11:00 PM EST, but it's repeated the following evening at 7:00 PM EST.

Watch this one if you can, it had me laughing through the entire monolog.

18. Actually, Ari Fleischer was the first to recieve it.
A few years back they showed a clip of Ari giving some smarmy non-answer, and they cut to Stewart who said, "Is it just me, or is he......a douchebag?" I don't know if I would have remembered it, except for the fact that no one fits the name douchebag better than Ari Fleischer.

16. Joe Biden is now my hero
Biden looked like he wanted to rip out Ashcroft's throat for being such a world-class *hole. He said -- quite forcefully -- what everyone with a brain has been thinking and saying all along: When the US adheres to the Geneva Conventions it's so OUR OWN soldiers won't be be tortured. And just to make it crystal clear, Biden repeated it and said MY SON etc.

(Of course the Geneva Conv isn't some kind of magic shield, but abiding by it ourselves sets a moral standard we can then expect others to follow -- instead of setting the bar for our own behavior so low that the best the Bush admin can think of to say is that it's not as bad as Saddam Hussein.)

It was a sweeeeet moment. Thank you Senator Biden.

Hekate

So our soilders have no excuse to torture/mistreat people and get caught doing it by 1000's of pictures.

They have no excuse to commit any torture and thus not "lose the war" for a president (side note, a war should be won or lost by a country not a leader of one) who didn't want to abide by the convention rules. Bush is too stupid to realize that he would have saved himself the mess the Abu Gharib photos made for him if he had demanded our soldiers adhere to the Geneva convention from the word go.

You reap what you sow.
You've made your bed mr "THE WAR PRESIDENT", now you must lay in it.

22. Bravo, bravo!
The Daily Show is a good example for the other "news" folks to follow. Yes, he does it with an undercurrent of humor but godDAM he nails it:

"You have to cite SOMEthing....Executive Privilege, the 5th Amendment, a writ of douchebaggery"

OH MY GAWD!!!!!
