Leno joke compares Bush govt. to Nazis
I couldn't believe I heard it, Leno had a joke about the Ashcroft testimony for the second night.

Last night he said, Ashcroft said that the government shouldn't be questioned until after the war is over. Then he said, actually there's a precedent for this, it's called Nuremberg.

Very little laughter, but I'm pretty sure it's because it was over his audience's heads.

3. That is exactly it. REAGAN dummed America down by deflating
education and killing California's quality of education. Now Leno is so successful because of that...and when he tries to show any brains people don't understand what he is talking about.

5. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Reagan actually introduced tuition into the UC and CSU college systems of CA.

Until Reagan, students paid no tutiion.

Since Reagan, Pete Wilson and now Arnold, tution keeps rising under GOP Govs.

12. Yeah!
Everyone loves getting something for nothing!

Except the people of the state eventually foot the bill. Why not let the people that are using the service pay for it?

14. Out of staters had to pay tuition, but I know I went to college
tuition free in California as a resident. Cutting funding also lowered the standards of the UC CSU system. Because they had to solicit students from those who could afford to pay, the high standards for acceptance got lowered. Grade point levels dropped for admission as well as requirements like languages and lower math and science requirements from high school.

Yep, we once had a system who took the cream of the young people and gave them an education regardless of their economic status and replaced it with a system allowing the privileged first choice.

4. come to think of it...
'precedent' is probably over a lot of their heads. Not to be to snooty about it, but I think it's probably true.

13. I know..When he does the person in the street interviews...
He seems to pick the most illiterate people he can find for the Q&As.
Most of them have never heard of Dick Cheney. When he asked one passerby who the VP was, they said it's Al Gore!

Then backed up a bit and said...no, no, no..he was supposed to be president but Bush said, No Al, I'm the president, the judge said it was me...or some such convolution. <hilarious or very sad>
