Democrats willing to compromise with Repubs about Reagan on currency?
This idea has not been floated yet but if anyone from the DNC might be reading this, I think they should consider it. Democrats should seek a compromise with the Repubs on this issue. Abraham Lincoln was probably the greatest Republican, although from a different era, and would probably be closer to the Democratic philosophy of today. That being the case, Democrats should agree to let Reagan take the place of Lincoln of the $5 bill. After all, the Republican Party is no longer the Party of Lincoln and could be reflected more accurately by putting Reagan on the $5 and taking Lincoln off. What do you think? :)

1. if it has to happen...
get rid of jackson on the $20

that guy was a thug, a murderer, and pushed into place some of the most hateful and racist legislation this country has ever seen (not that reagan is much better).

lincoln needs to stay

personally, i say let ronnie come on one of the bills, because as one DU-er suggested yesterday, every single one that i come across i will write down one of reagan's crimes on it. EVERY SINGLE ONE. i will deface those bills like nobody's business.

10. Put his face on the US Treasury bond......
since he ran up a trillion or so dollars in debt, it's only fair the resulting instrument of debt be named after him.

Also, they could change the name of the bonds issued by that agency set up to deal with the trillion stolen from The FSLIC.... the Savings and Loan insuring agency ...... after the dunce. That agency was called FICO or FICA, as I recall.

2. I call for a $7 trillion coin
Then we can put Reagan's face on that and pay off the deficit.

3. sure, if they agree to put Bill Clinton on a bill...
Bill brought us prosperity and a huge surplus.

What has Reagan done for us?

6. Interesting, but if you really want to do it right
Put Jefferson Davis on the $5.

And no, I'm not joking.

8. Put Reagan on the Govenment Debt Instruments
i.e. bonds,
because he caused so many of them to be issued,
and we're still paying for them.

Reagan ran up more debt than "free-spending" Democrats ever dreamed of.

9. No Compromise
Reagan was a criminal who bankrupted the country. I'm outraged that he was rewarded for stabbing the flight controllers in the back by having an airport named after him. I will not accept his irresponsible tripling of the national as an excuse to put his face on money.

Contemplating Reagan on money is insane.

11. this is the compromise I'd make
They can have Reagan on the Sacajewea gold coin or the penny (since Lincoln is already on the $5).

And since penny's might be out of circulation in a few years - my vote now goes to the penny.
