Who is more "liberal" ? Arnold or Gray Davis ?
And Arnold will be working with a Democratic state house? Why is he so feared? Maybe the Repubs are hoping the Democrats will try to destroy Arnold? Otherwise, they may have to do it themselves. They know he is not going to get the conservative base. He is turning into a real dilemma for the Repubs, in my opinion. I really don't see that big of a downside for the Democrats in this election, even if Arnold wins. It is going to be very divisive for the Repubs - it already is. Look at Darrel Issa.

1. Arnold Is married into the Kennedy Clan
I wonder what's up with his politics and is there an agenda behind all of this?

3. James Carville is married to Mary Matlin ...
no problem there. They're still polar opposites.

8. Comparing Mary Matlin to the Kennedy Clan is like Apples & Oranges
The Democratic Kennedy's are royalty in this country and Mary's family could be democratic but we don't know.

2. He's a demagogue...
I don't understand why anyone on the right or left would support him. He's vapid and without ideas. He'll sway with the winds with no abiding convictions... I think what's "feared" is the concept of a political party using the recall process to redo an election that was decided less than a year ago. This is without precedent. I think Democrats need to recognize the changed landscape, and change tactics accordingly.

4. ..and which Party will have to pay the price if you are correct ?
"I think what's "feared" is the concept of a political party using the recall process to redo an election that was decided less than a year ago."

And I think the Repubs are aware of this...that is why Bush has put distance between himself and Arnold.

5. The governorship affords rights to appoint...
certain judgeships, and even Senate vacancies. Am I right?
In any event, do not be distracted. This fiasco, bought and paid for by the repug party, is serving as a handy distraction for the liberal media.(not enough shark attacks or Kobe attacks) The most important thing is to vote NO and Bustamante. We can not afford to watch California go the way of Florida.

6. This should put doubts into the minds of the non-believers about Florida
Those that might have thought Bush won fair and square might now have second thoughts - after seeing the way they operate in CA... But then, perhaps they would expect nothing less from their Party??

7. Think environment, business regulations, corportate responsibility
Arnold is not a liberal! He may support liberals on a few social issues but governing is so much more than that. What would he do to legislation to protect farmworkers from pesticide poisoning? What would he do to stop offroad vehicles from desecrating our environmental treasures? What would he do about the privacy legislation? And the humvee owner, what will he do about air pollution controls on cars? Remember he has basically said that business needs less controls and we need a better business environment. It's the Repuke line for California and I've seen so many studies that refute that argument.

Arnold's strategy is to act like the outsider and tell us to trust him. That's what Dubya did. Arnold has never shown an ounce of real policy smarts or liberalism. I don't like his movies or him.

9. Let's look at reality for a little bit eh?
Reality is that next year's budget is set until the legislature
has to deal with deficits next June...unless business booms for some
odd reason this next year...there will be no money to spend and more cuts will take place. No governor, unless he slaps a corporate logo on every beach from San Diego to Humboldt, can make up that deficit. No body builder slash actor can pump up business unless he offers deep tax cuts to large businesses to stay in California and removes monies from the unions.

Steve Peace was right this morning on CNBC Power Lunch when he said the plan is worked out already to deal with the deficits in the next couple of years, and he said that California sends to the Fed gov.
$50 billion each year...more than the Feds send us. That money props up states that take money from the Fed gov, like Louisiana and others.

The high security color alerts cost the states millions
every time Bush wants to raise the fear factor diversion.

Bush is an observer in these state deficit scenarios...not a leader.
Kinda like looking at a disaster safely from a plane miles up.

12. Who gives a fuck?
I don't care what Rove thinks. He is a nobody - a good demagog, but still a nobody. The fact that he supports Ah-nold isn't an argument against Ah-nold any more than the fact that Stalin opposed Nazism is an argument for Nazism.

13. There's no conservative base in CA
Arnold is the Republican favorite, but, for him to win, they have to make it look like he isn't.

And Democrats should be afraid of him because the republicans want him to do for W in CA what Jeb did for W in FL -- they want him to do the things necessary in the executive branch to steal the election for W, and they want him to go easy on Enron too.
