but this is france. why would they need to wear masks to demonstrate against the u.s. in france? i can see americans doing this.

4. How big ARE the crowds?
Atlanta Journal has been saying that there are more reporters trying to interview the protesters than there are protesters . . .

I think there are not so many folks as coastal GA is not exactly easy to get to + protesters cannot get anywhere near the actual conference.

More power to them, I guess . . I must admit I've never felt much cameraderie for the anti-WTO, G8, World Bank flavor of activism.

I guess I've always felt that there are better causes to get involved with . . . . Probably just a generation gap thing.

Anyway, how big were the crowds? I'd read in the paper that the security guys feel like they are on a paid vacation.
