Reproduction as "breeding" again making comparisons to human beings as animals - another throw back to our more racist past in this country where we made human beings slaves, counted them as property, but for the census got to count them as 3/5 of a person so that we could maintain some population benefits...

This point also shows ignorance, given that the 1996 Welfare Reform law prevents both illegal and legal aliens from receiving welfare benefits (though some rights and benefits to tax paying legal aliens have been, I believe, restored.) Point out that law has been in place for eight years - bet even those immigrating are more aware of this law than the ignorant folks who keep sending this jim crow era sounding tripe around.

You know, someone once said that as you treat the least of your brothers and sisters on this planet, that's how you treat him. His name was Jesus.

I sure that little bit of doggerel verse is meant to be humorous, but as a Christian, I'm under strict orders from the Highest Authority to look out for people less fortunate than I am. I've had the luxury and the good fortune to be born into the most prosperous nation on the face of the planet. I've never known the ravages of war or famine like so many people who have been driven to come to this country. And it's the policies of the leaders of our country that inflict these miserable conditions on other people around the world. Policies that I will admit benefit me greatly.

And yet, your poem tries to say that with all the advantages and privileges that have been granted to me, that I should hug them close to my chest and refuse to share. What kind of a person would do such a thing? Jesus, as well as Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Paul and Moses had many hard words for selfish people like that. Read the books of Amos and Micah for more. They're short and not too "taxing."

The first murderer tried to excuse himself by asking "Am I my brother's keeper?" Surely we can do better than that. I know I can.
