So I am watching CSPAN-1 yesterday. It is ALL REAGAN ALL THE TIME, just a camera or two on the mourners procession in the rotunda, a solemn and sad sight.
Well, around noon yesterday, the camera keeps panning over to Paul Wolfowitz (R-Bloodsucker, Evil), his eyes red and moist. He is standing there with this soldier, a kid who couldn't have been more than 22. The uniformed kid is BARELY standing, supporting himself with a crutch, with BOTH OF HIS F-ING HANDS having been BLOWN OFF, amputated, for crying out loud. A general is standing there, and every now and then Paul and this general look protectively at the kid, and help steady him.
Late yesterday afternoon, as with all of the cable news networks, MSNBC had a slide show of touching images of the Reagan funeral. The teaser preview image, which would link to the actual slideshow, featured a picture of this kid. Unfortunately this WAS but a teaser. Clicking his picture brought up the slide show window, but a large version of the tiny preview was nowhere to be found. I wonder if the editors thought better of showing just what a devastating and real effect our little Iraq adventure is having on these young kids.
But what pissed me off even more was just the constant video of the architect of evil, the very ideologue whose idiocy is very greatly responsible for this ridiculous war, standing there with someone who had his arms blown off, his entire life destroyed for some ridiculous folly. Apologies to those easily offended, but put it in simple terms that we all can relate: Can you imagine, every time this kid wants to take a piss or sit on the crapper, and needs to have someone help him do this and wipe his ass for him, he's got Wolfowitz and crew to thank for it. Were I the soldier, I would have spat in Wolfie's face.
I am looking to write an article about this in my weblog, and I need to find a larger image of this kid with Wolfowitz. Anyone out there able to help me out, or see this? Email me at skiph@mac.com.
