Poll question: Dean Supporters: Whose campaign do you fear the most?
That is if you fear any other candidate. It has been alleged that the Dean campaign fears Clark. Do you? I really don't fear any campaign--I think Dean has a compelling message and he is going to do his thing and the other campaigns will do theres.

But do you fear that another campaign will hurt Dean? if so, which campaign?

1. I Voted for "None"...
...not that I'm arrogantly optimistic, just that I fear the BUSH campaign more than anything.

2. This poll
wd be (a little) more credible if each voter had to
ID in a post as a Dean backer. Same with other
polls that call for backers of specific candidates.
I back Dean & voted no fear.

7. Kind of a loaded poll
Of course almost all Dean supporters will choose no fear, but it is still interesting that Clark got the most votes of all the other candidates, at this point.

8. Right
And how do you know those votes weren't from Clark supporters? No way of telling. Sorry, but this is a dumb poll.

9. I would vote for Clark
but he doesn't have a campaign going and hasn't declared. I don't like wasting my energy on people who 'might run' as that list is awfully long.

12. it hasn't stopped the DraftGore movement
Not that I support him joining the race, I'm just curious as why he was left off. If he came in, he'd be the 600 pound gorilla to beat.

13. An open letter to every Howard Dean Supporter

If Clark dosen't run I will knock every door, call everybody I can to Elect Howard Dean, but now just isn't the right time

Clark can and WILL beat Bush.

The Sad reality is that Clark can't win the primaries.

PLEASE Support General Clark, Please.

Let's not have a bloody Primary.
That's just what Rove is counting on.

So I ask every Deanie to vote Clark/Dean in 04.

In 2012 I will work hard to elect Vice President Dean, President.

Than Dean can work the same magic that has inspired millions!

15. I am leaning Clark at this point
and actually spend my share of time defending Clark attacks from my fellow Dems on DU - odd, isn't it, when we could be concentrating on *?

I may vote Dean, I may vote Kerry, I'd like to vote Sharpton, but I think I have until at least midnight next Wednesday before I have to sign my sworn affidavit to only support one candidate - is that right, or is this hysteria of picking a candidate 14 mos prior to the fact just making me feel that way?

that said, what is up with this Open letter thing? I appreciate your view, but, like, aren't there some SPAM rules on here?

17. I'd be quite thrilled with a Dean/Clark or Clark/Dean ticket!
Edited on Thu Aug-14-03 04:20 PM by GoreN4
Both are good men that I repsect. The problem with Clark is that even if he announces in 2 or 3 weeks, he does not have the grass-roots organization that Dean has built this year, nor does he have about $10 million ready to go for the fall campaign. Dean has these rather important advantages that can not be replicated very quickly or easily. However, to me a Dean and/or Clark combination is a very symbiotic match, as they cancel out each others weaknesses (Dean's policy expertise vs. Clark's security credentials).

Importantly, both are pro-gun, which is an issue that hurt Gore in WV, TN and other states during 2000. I have contributed some money to Dean, but I would give some to Clark as well, but my preference would be a Dean/Clark tag-team combo - *before the primary* if at all possible. An unorthodox suggestion, but it could work, and Rove would not be happy with that combination heading into the Dem primaries...and the general election as well...

As I stated on a previous thread, my dream would consist of Bill Clinton and/or Al Gore coming out and endorsing a Dean/Clark ticket as the right 'perscription' for America. That would be a winning ticket, but I just don't see Clark at the top of ticket at this stage in the campaign.

19. I believe the DLC would endorse Clark in a heart beat
However, IMHO, don't think they would endorse Dean. I love Howard Dean, but will support whichever Democrat is nominated.

16. Rove
Because he is a sleazy lying prick who will say or do anything to smear anyone.

I remember what he did to McCain...had phone pods call SC voters and tell them McCain was variously nuts, gay or otherwise unacceptable to SC voters.

However, I believe Dean has the intestinal fortitude to deal with Smirk/Rove. He surely hasn't deluded himself (as has Lieberman) that by being "nice" to Smirk he won't be attacked.

20. Which Dean supporter fears a Lieberman or Sharpton campaign?
Dean is the one gaining ground, Lieberman is slowly loosing support.
