Why is the media doing this?
Edited on Fri Jun-11-04 09:57 PM by dennis4868
why is the mainstreem media covering this whole Reagan thing the way they are? Reagan is getting the same treatment a president would get if they were a sitting president and was assasinated. Reagan was a total failure as a president if you look at the evidence objectively. Reagan was an embarrassment to our country. So why is he getting all this love now. He was not a popular president according to the polls after his re-election. It makes me sick watching all of this on TV. When will the insanity end? Does anyone really think that Clinton will get the same treatment when he dies (heaven forbid of course)?

2. I'm totally baffled by the media. Do they not consider that
millions of their viewers despise Shrubco? It would be interesting to see how many viewers the networks & CNN would have if democrats boycotted them.

I was going to watch the news, and catch up on the days events. And all they are showing is 24/7 coverage of the funeral...Enough is Enough!!!

7. Reagan....
should have gotten the same treatment that Nixon got after he died. Reagan left office in shame (Iran Contra, 30% poverty rate, AIDS ignored, etc...) and was a failure. The mainstreem (so-called liberal) media should be ashamed of themselves. They have not whored like this since before the war for Bush.

8. True...
Nixon was actually an intelligent man, he went a Duke University. Not a B-Rated actor like Raygun. Some of the things Nixon said in the latter years of his life were truly intelligent.

4. It's "Operation Ignore-Bush-&-Co.-For-As-Long-As-Possible"
Think about it...

- Runaway gas prices (yet no lines at the pumps...where's the shortage?)

- U.S. troops and contract mercs in Iraq running wild and breaking the Geneva Convention (which *is* the Law since we signed it)

- Still a huge deficit of jobs (even though they keep claiming "the economy is improving")

- Opium is once again growing like weeds in Afghanistan and the warlords and Taliban are doing who-knows-what

- Ashcroft falsely accusing folks and holding them without charge...also in contempt of Congress for not releasing those torture guidance memos...

- And oh yeah, Kerry is leading in the polls (if you believe that stuff) even though Bush & Co. is outspending him

<Sarcasm on>
Now what respectable "liberal media" would wanna talk about that? </Sarcasm off>

20. It is obvious but have they no pride. While I suppose the
answer is no. Its hard to believe that they all can be so fawning. Do you think any of the anchors or reporters resort to serious drinking to assuage guilt for their utter lack of integrity? I mean they know what going on in the world and that this is bs.

9. This entire "outpouring" is a media creation.
It's all corporate propaganda, nothing more.

Hey, they embalmed the old fuck three blocks from my house. I was there to see the great "outpouring". There was very little. At any given time there were 20-30 people standing around, most of them looked like they were just lookie-loos. Hell, I was one of them, and I was just some schmuck from the neighborhood wondering why the goddamn streets were closed.

This entire "outpouring" is a media creation.

$20 million bucks for a funeral buys a LOT of production value that LOOKS pretty impressive.

You could make a pretty good movie for twenty million bucks. Think about it.

11. I hope we never have to see a Clinton
funeral. I can't help wondering if the people over at the Weather Channel and HGTV aren't sitting around thinking about why their ratings went up this week.

12. I dont want to ever have to see....
Big Guy's funeral but he deserves the same respect that Reagan is getting and more and it wont happen as long at the Repubs control congress and the media are slaves to the corporations. Very sad. Many young people who were not around when Reagan was Prez or were too young to remember may think that Reagan was some kind of God by the way the media is treating him.

14. Agreed. The guy from ABC news shoveled on the bull about how we
all loved Reagan the way Nancy did... Peter Jennings?

:puke: A true faux puke-a-thon.

He was an outright utter total embarrassment of an embarrassment.
