I find it very appropriate that banks closed today
since so many banks failed during Reagan's years in office.

They want to put his face on money?

How about a trillion dollar bill, since that was his longest lasting legacy. They can change the motto from "In God We Trust" to "Fuck the Poor".

I suggest a Democratic proposal to start a nationwide program to end homelessness in Ronnie's "honor". A network of shelters named after Reagan. They can get old Bob's Big Boy statues to put out front.

"He was so optimistic", yeah, a lot like a person with Down Syndrome is always smiling and optomistic. The guy had no idea what was going on around him. Its why he was the "Teflon President", the press treated him like he was in the Special Olympics. "Everyones a winner!".

Sorry, I just can't respect a guy that called his wife "Mommy" unless he is from a Greek fable.

4. Banks were closed in Pennsylvania. I thought it was
nationwide. I thought it appropriate: beginning the shutdown of the American economy through trickle down economics and corporate greed.

8. Banks were not closed in Pennsylvania
I walked into an M&T Bank in central Pennsylvania this morning. All the banks were open, in fact.

14. If your bank was closed
then they are in a shit load of trouble. The Federal Reserve was OPEN.

6. i find it appropriate that air traffic controllers were forced to work
Edited on Fri Jun-11-04 10:07 PM by unblock
basically, everybody in the federal government got the day off except "essential personnel", i.e., the air traffic controllers.

7. Im on vacation in SC
and the Post Offices were closed and my mom said that the banks were too...I guess it's one of those red state/blue state things.

I'm curious, anyone in NJ know if the banks were closed today?

10. Post Offices are Federal Agencies
That's why they were closed.

Banks were not closed. The stock market was closed.

11. Nope. I'm in NC & all the banks were open.
So I don't think it's a red state/blue state thing.

The banks are federally regulated, so either they were all opened or all closed, I believe.

9. Just wait. The next sitting president faces the reality of peak oil:
Reagan keenly avoided peak oil (what with the US drying up its own supply in the early 70s, it seemed like typical reagan logic to go use other countries' oil).

Kerry might get the blame the Smoked Gipper deserves.

Watching the recaps on tonight's news, why is that old fucker respected by ANYBODY?
