WAKE UP! - Strauss / Neocons and Terror PLUS dire warnings
Edited on Sat Jun-12-04 11:47 PM by Eloriel

Neocon coup theory

Why would the neocons and their backers react to this situation by fomenting terrorism as a prelude to a coup designed to perpetuate their power? We must recall the central place occupied by emergency rule in the neocon doctrine. The neocon prophet, Leo Strauss, was a protégé of Carl Schmitt, a card-carrying Nazi and the man who designed Article 48, the martial law provision of the Weimar German constitution which allowed Hitler to take power legally. Carl Schmitt procured a Rockefeller scholarship for young Leo Strauss. Schmitt was the lawyer for the right-wing reactionary coup in Prussia in July, 1932, which served as the immediate springboard for Hitler’s seizure of power half a year later. Schmitt is associated with the proposition that true sovereignty belongs only to whomever can declare a state of emergency. He also propounded the notion that an oligarchical society cannot survive without a clear enemy image - with the overtone that if there is no real enemy, a synthetic one must be manufactured. The neocon guru Schmitt stands out as a leading theoretician of modern dictatorship.

Strauss himself taught that under certain circumstances real men "may be forced into a mere negation of the universal and homogeneous state, into a negation not enlightened by any positive goal, into a nihilistic negation." He went on to elaborate that " that nihilistic revolution may be the only action on behalf of man’s humanity, the only great and noble deed that is possible once the universal and homogeneous state has become inevitable . The successful revolt the primitive horde." In European thought, nihilism was often equated to anarchist bomb-throwers; the nihilistic revolution was a synonym for fascism and Nazism. Strauss endorsed all this. His nihilistic revolution opens the door to terrorism, war, mayhem, genocide, and much more. He explicitly endorses actions that would take mankind back to the primal horde, that is to say the hunting and gathering society of the old stone age, of the cave men. We must also recall that Strauss’s written doctrine is always more cautious than the oral tradition he transmitted to his direct and indirect disciples, among whom are the neocons now running the US government. (Leo Strauss, On Tyranny <1963>, 208-9) The neocon doctrine is explicitly pro-terrorist.

http://www.911review.org/Wiki/RogueUSOwnGoal.shtml

And for a flavor of what the rest of the article is about:

"For the Bush administration, the nightmare is losing the November election -- a prospect believed to be unlikely until just recently. For many of us citizens, the nightmare is the President and his associates resorting to extra-legal measures to ensure that there is no regime change in Washington for four more years. Logic and human nature would suggest that possible liability to prosecution under the War Crimes Act are among the more weighty factors they take into account. Bush administration leaders may even look on the prospect of a terrorist event in the US in the coming months as a possible opportunity as well as a risk." McGovern admits but then dismisses the possibility that the Bush networks "would be perverse enough to allow to happen, or -- still less -- to orchestrate one. But there is ample reason to believe that they would take full political advantage of a terrorist attack -- or even just the threat of one. Ashcroft's remarks last week might be regarded as the opening salvo in a campaign to condition the country for this . Yes, this could mean" a constitutional crisis without parallel in the history of our country .But was there not a good warm-up in the fall of 2002? Did we not then experience a constitutional crisis when Congress was duped into ceding to the President its constitutional power to declare war? And it was all accomplished by spreading the myth that Saddam Hussein was close to exploding a mushroom cloud over us -- a myth based on a known forgery alleging that Iraq was acquiring uranium from Africa. Could an elevated threat level be used as a means of "justifying martial law and postponement of the election? No doubt such suggestions will seem too alarmist to those trusting that there is a moral line, somewhere, that the President and his senior advisers would not cross. I regret very much to say that their behavior over the past three years leaves me doubtful that there is such a line .If my doubts are justified, the sooner we all come to grips with this parlous situation the better." (Ray McGovern syndicated column, June 1; Common Dreams, June 2)

snip

Edited to add this (oy!):

The US Congress ought to be particularly concerned, since one of the most plausible coup scenarios features the destruction of the US Capitol and its adjacent office buildings, exterminating large numbers of Senators, Congressmen, and staff. Incredibly, the Congress is conniving in its own liquidation through the bill ordering instant elections to replace deceased Congressmen which has been passed by the House and is now making its way into law. The gullible lawmakers would seem to be signing their own death warrant, since if there is anything that would facilitate the erection of a police state, it is the lack of an intact and functioning legislative branch - a fact illustrated all too well by the Nazi burning of the German Reichstag shortly after Hitler’s seizure of power. But will the Congress act?

2. Uh oh -- MUST READ
What's Next?
http://www.911review.org/Wiki/WhatsNext.shtml

If 9/11 was Bush's Reichstag Fire (1936/2001), then we are in the period that Churchill called "The Gathering Storm". Jennifer van Bergen of the New School University in NYC has concluded that the The Bush Plan for America has us 3/4 of the way down the road to Fascism. We agree, as all of the elements of a Police State have long been put into place, and 9/11 is proof that the American people will quietly submit to the most egregious acts of barbarism and deception without even asking What Really Happened.

Based on our now quite substantial experience analyzing 9/11, as well as previous acts of AmericanStateTerrorism, we feel can start to discern the path that the rest of Road to Tyranny with take:

Ashcroft's Patriot Act 2 has been waiting in the wings, and now is being passed by stealth. George Bush's favourite lapdog is introducing similar legislation before the British Parliament that gives police the right to detain anyone in the 'vicinity' of a suspected bioterrorist attack, and to extend existing powers to detain foreign terror suspects without trial to all British subjects. The Draconian move could result in Britons who fall under suspicion spending years in jail without charges. The new powers will be introduced as amendments to the already controversial Civil Contingencies Bill (CCB). The Canadian version, 37/2 C-17 was passed by the House of Commons 7 October 2003.

snip

The Model Health Emergency Health Powers Act (MSHEPA) was quietly making its way through the State legislatures, as health is a State responsibility. The draconian piece of legislation, would allow a State's governor to declare a "public health emergency", and without consulting with public health authorities, law enforcement, the legislature or courts, to:
Require any individual to be vaccinated, and require any individual to undergo specific medical treatment. Refusal constitutes a crime and will result in quarantine (internment).
Suspend any state law, regulation or rule that is thought to interfere with handling the declared emergency.
Now it seems that Secretary of HHS Tommy Thompson now holds these powers regardless of individual state legislation with the easy passage of the Homeland Security Bill in Novermber 2002, overstepping individual and state's rights in one clean sweep - the Homeland Security Bill Could Allow DHHS To Force Smallpox Vaccination While Nobody Is Liable For Harm.

4. Re: Schmitt
He is not the exclusive property of the Right.

Many academic leftists(many of them 'postmodernists') tend to agree with Schmitt's 'critique' of democracy.

And to get more abstract, many radical leftists in the academy tend to be sympathetic to Martin Heidegger.

do your own research.

7. Jebus, this is an Excellent Post!!
Leo Strauss=Machiavelli=cannabalizing the society and it's people in order to "control" them.

It's all too bloody close for comfort.

I especially like the part you added about the congress signing their own fate with that bill. I remember them going for that one recently. Thanks for making the comparison to German Reichstag........................YIKES!!!

You know, I don't own a crystal ball but I KNEW this outfit was going to be the living end of us. I couldn't see just HOW bad they'd be but I strongly sensed the moment they ran for office....the real heeby jeebies started when they stole the election. I remember telling people to beware, don't vote for that beelzebub. I didn't know a fraction of what I know now--having read and learned so much since those days. Call me crazy, call me the wizard of Oz, call me intuitive..................I KNEW. It's eerie.

9. Thanks, I'll look at this....I did some reading on them
a good while back. I was researching the machinations of Bushco via their religious connections and found that some in his admin, among others, had studied Straussian theory. Clarence Thomas was one that came up...there were several other's with which Bush does business(Rove I think is another).

Scary anyway you cut it.

12. Scarey indeed
Two key tenets make them irredeemable, IMO: (a) the belief that the elite (which they are and no one else is, of course) have not just the right but the obligation to rule over the common people and (b) that as the rightful rulers they have both the right and obligation to deceive (outright lie to) the common people -- for their own good, of course.

These people are certifiably nuts. Seriously, those are hallmarks of mental illness (Narcissistic Personality Disorder, I would think and perhaps others). AND, as I said, you can't reach them -- can't convince them that their evil ways are wrong.

They also think religion is cool too -- again, for the common people, not themselves. Keeps us busy, placated, orderly.

11. I TOLD MY HUSBAND !!!!!
"These people are up to SOMETHING evil!" The day the House was debating this bill.....he laughed at me. :( I told him..."This is NOT funny. These people are evil and they are up to SOMETHING." The constitution states that there will be a "special election" within 45 days of the death of a House member. The Dems wanted to change the constitution to state that the Governor of the State from where the House member is from can appoint someone from a list given to the Governor by the House member. The repukes refused saying that the constitution should not be changed because "this is the "peoples House" they must be ELECTED. "IF AN ELECTION IS NOT POSSIBLE, WE HAVE THE PRESIDENT TO APPOINT THE HOUSE MEMBER." LIGHT BULBS!!!! Hello! Light bulbs went off in my head! These people are up to NO GOOD! I did NOT know they passed this other bill calling for immediate elections! I thought they were just debating the Dem bill to change the Consttution. SURELY the Senate will not pass that bill?

The US Congress ought to be particularly concerned, since one of the most plausible coup scenarios features the destruction of the US Capitol and its adjacent office buildings, exterminating large numbers of Senators, Congressmen, and staff. Incredibly, the Congress is conniving in its own liquidation through the bill ordering instant elections to replace deceased Congressmen which has been passed by the House and is now making its way into law. 14. this was supposed to happen on 9/11
I believe this was supposed to happen on 9/11.

The fourth plane, if it had not been delayed 40 minutes before takeoff and not flown so far west, could have wiped out Congress.

If it had been allowed to fly all the way back and hit its target, the lack of military reponse would have too obvious -- even to most sheep -- so because of the delays, it had to be shot down. (No proof, of course, just a gut reaction.)

If all 4 planes had taken off on time, and taken more direct routes to their targets, they all would have hit within 10 minutes of each other. And * had the perfect alibi of being in the class room. ...

Too bad for * that the timing got so spaced out. ... It will eventually be the evidence that hangs him and the cabal operating under his name.

15. I have long thought so.
Flight 93 was intended for the Capitol, and its 40-minute delay meant the lack of air defense was robbed of plausible deniability.

22. It was always curious to me
that the administration made such an "issue" out of those "heros" on flight '93. Beamer? Was that his name? His wife at the SOTU speech...the African American woman who took the cell phone call from Beamer...was all over the news with Beamer's wife. The way they co-opted the phrase....."Let's get ready to roll.??" Something like that......and made it their "new" phrase du jour. The whole thing struck me as disingenuous....now I know why. :(

28. The heros on flight 93 were a "warm & fuzzy"

I made a point to remember this on 9/11. First witness reports were that the plane was shot down. An engine from the plane was found at a gas station miles away from the crash site. At first, I thought the cover up was to give the public some heros who fought against the terraist and make them feel good. Also, the President has to authorize force against a commercial airliner. They were worried that it wouldn't look good for Shrub.

Now, it's getting worse & worse. First I hear of any "inoculation camps", it's time to get my kids out of here.

31. Not only did the delay rob * of plausible deniability
Flight 93 was in the process of being recovered by the passengers. If they succeeded, then Flight 93 could have provided a wealth of evidence -- including potentially the identity and results of interrogation of the hijackers. If there's anything to LIHOP/MIHOP, then Flight 93 had to be shot down.
