Doctor Proposes Not Treating Some Lawyers
A doctor's proposal asking the American Medical Association to endorse refusing care to attorneys involved in medical malpractice cases drew an angry response from colleagues Sunday at the annual meeting of the nation's largest physicians group.

false claims for malpractice out there. Having said that I can think of twice in my life when I should have taken a doctor to court but didn't. Both times I was serious ill or injured and they told me that I had only minor problems. The last time I could have been paralyzed from the neck down and the guy kept telling my I had pulled some muscles in my upper back. I'll hold a grudge against him for the rest of my life. So, there's the other side of the coin. There are malpractice suits because some doctors are assholes who should be in another line of work, like manufacturing burgers at McDonalds.

But to refuse treatment to a person or their spouse? My suggestion is then just don't screw up.

3. If you believe that there
are a lot of false claims for malpractice out there-you've been sold a bill of goods by a lying shit for brains insurance industry that won't admit that a sorry economy where they can't make money from investment has more to do with premium requirements than does anything having to do with claims.

4. 20 years ago
when I was practicing law, a friend of mine (also a lawyer) was denied medical insurance by a company because he was an attorney. This firm had made the decision not to insure attorney's because an attorney could sue and represent himself and not have to pay attorney's fees while they would have huge legal expenses.

Anyway, that's the logic that they came up with. That's just crazy, because any decent lawyer would hire appropriate counsel. The lawyer that represents himself has a fool for a client.

Truth is thaat they were denying coverage to lawyers just to deny coverage to lawyers

Doctor's who's malpractice rates are becoming prohibitive are admittedly in a bad spot. However, they are being suckered by the insurance industry into buying their "tort reform" line hook line and sinker (and yes, I realize that I just mixed about three metaphors, so sue me) :P Now they are buying into insurance industry tactics.
