Got a response from NPR re: DUer's firing....
I sent several emails to NPR.
Story Ideas said they would look into it.... apparently they have someone working on a story about the tendency of bush loyalists to be (as they like to call themselves) "patriot informants".

Another said affiliates do what they do (same as many of you said).

No responses yet from the emails I sent to vanderbilt

1. Interesting
Working on a story, huh? The "patriot informants" story sounds pretty interesting.

Granted, NPR is powerless in actions against the station that fired Misanthrope. They are only the network syndicating product.

And I'm not sure what Vanderbilt can do. Seems this clown has already graduated. Or dropped out.

2. Yea, but such exposure could be humiliating....
and humiliating L.Flynn is the least I can do for Misanthrope.

I believe in reincarnation..... is L.Flynn young enough to be the reincarnation of the Dutch neighbor who turned in Anne Frank?

5. NPR can drop their affiliation
Edited on Mon Jun-14-04 09:49 AM by camero
What would the station have left besides music when this happens? I'm not saying that people just listen to college radio for the news but
having NPR is a source of funding.

3. "patriot informants'?
I hope Story Ideas do a thorough search through FRland and see for themselves just what caliber of patriots they are...it shouldn't take long to find examples of the bigotry, falsehoods and threats that appear so frequently in their disfunctional diatribes.

It must have been five years or more ago that I found myself on one of their hate lists - name, address and all. They apparently got it off another Democratic website. Lovely people.

10. Yeah, like the old DDR

The Stasi used a huge network of informants to repress the citizens of East Germany. It was not uncommon for members of families to spy on each other for fear of blackmail, as a result of physical threats and even because of monetary rewards from the secret police force. In the late ‘80s, the Stasi had nearly 175,000 official informants on their books, roughly one informant for every 100 people.

4. Freepers are sure making themselves look bad.
Edited on Mon Jun-14-04 09:21 AM by lovedems
There was the article "Did Freepers kill Nick Berg?", you had MSNBC put a link to Freeperville when they posted the results of one of their polls several months back, and now a possible story of "patriot informants"?

They are going to self implode, just like the rest of the conservative movement. It can't happen soon enough if you ask me. I would love the rest of the country to see them for the "true patriots (giggle)" they really are!

On edit: I sent CBS a link to Freeperville when they were bombarding the execs. to show the Nick Berg video because they showed the prison torture photos. Of course they were sending very nasty emails and nasty telephone calls.
