Edited on Mon Jun-14-04 09:44 AM by Kanary
She is not only beautiful, she is an amazing young woman who suffered horrible public attacks and has come through it with a poise and dignity not usually seen in people much older.

Give her some credit, and let's stop NOW with the put downs. She never deserved it, and doesn't now.

48. I'm sure you're quite aware that crediting a surgeon for her looks
*IS* a putdown. It's just a continuation of the same garbage she was attacked with mercilessly as a teenager living in the WH.

And, Jesus! yourself.

Have the grace to look at what you wrote, understand how you are continuuing the same RW nonsense, and apologize for your thoughtlessness. Women do not solely exist for your appraisal of their looks.

54. Are you suggesting she hasn't?
Denying facts to suit your ideology is just as "Faith Based" as the current irrational maniac administration.

Fully 50% of women I know personally who come from a money, power or celebrity have some plastics. If you include women of that class whom I don't know personally (but who grace the pages if People, Us, etc) it's probably upwards of 90%.

Good thing too... a few of my friends are plastic surgeons and cosmetic dentists (ka-ching).

If you want to break the culture of superficially, petition Chelsea and complain to her about not going through life with her given face.

57. I'm "suggesting" that you're going out of your way
to defend your insensitive and hurtful remark.

Spending this much energy debating a woman's looks is pandering to the same sexist garbage that has kept women down for so many generations.

Since you are clearly unwilling to look at your actions, and how it affects others, there is no more room for "debate".

This is the kind of internalizing of RW attacks that is hurting the Party.

Chelsea. The family handled it well in public. Now we have Rush - with no wife, drug problems, legal problems, ratings down in NY, more and more lies exposed, right wing in B I G trouble. Guess we'll see him going around to his fancy NY restaurants with his Cuban cigar and a blonde on his arm, quite soon.

Clearly Chimpy is picking up on the so-called (bullshit) Reagan legacy of bi-partisanship and humor. He was actually pretty good today - his writers did a better job than usual - and he delivered the material much better than usual. But Clinton is infinitely better.

I'm glad Bill didn't get taken in by the one time gracious host. Bill's indirect references to the cartoon caricatures, the chainsaw massacre and the little six yr old kid asking if he really WAS the president because he wasn't dead? (that remark sort of sent a chill throughout the room) I wondered if that was a preemptive strike to Bush and his Klansman..he must have inside info and wanted to project, he knows wht they're up to.

Edited on Mon Jun-14-04 10:14 AM by Tellurian
certainly compliments, accolades and tributes are something new coming from the usually divisive republicans, especially a Bush.

I think Bill scrapped his notes and winged it throughout his speech. Bush changed the climate of the room in a vain attempt to appear Reaganesque. However, his true colors showed through in the end. Bush rose from his seat next to Clinton, and without a word to the guests of honor, abruptly made a beeline for the other side of the room, as soon as Laura said, "Lunch is served."
