Picket theaters not showing Fahrenheit 911
The movie is only showing on a small number of theaters. Because of this, it will not be in the top five opening weekend and the freepers will use that to say it is unpopular. We need to make a statement and stop the suppression of information. After seeing the opening show at the nearest theater, pick up a sign saying, "Patriotic theaters show Fahrenheit 9/11" and go to the nearest big theater and devote a couple of hours, redirecting people to patriotic theaters. "The Corporation" is also coming out this summer. Let's let them know that censorship is not acceptable.

1. Actually it's showing in quite a few theaters...
for a documentary. It's initial release, if I'm not mistaken, is a record for documentaries and the number of theaters will increase along with word of mouth.

It's not the big hollwood blockbuster that gets four screens in every theater on opening night. This one's a "sleeper" and that's fine with me.

31. I'll have to drive 20 miles to see it in a decent theater
Regal owns all the stadium theater near where I live but I'm willing to drive.

32. Yeah, as of right now I'd have to drive 80 miles or so.
If I wanted to catch it on opening night. But I'm pretty sure it will expand to my local theater after awhile. "Bowling" did. And if I'm not mistaken it only opened in LA and NYC initially. I'm not sure how the details work, but the smaller films always open in smaller numbers.

Don't get me started with Regal.

Fucking savages.

It'll open in 500, which is more than Columbine at its peak...
If it goes to 1000, I'm predicting that it'll top $100 million.

my house.

I've emailed them in support and got already a couple of responses. One of them emailed:

Thanks for your support!

Be sure to thank the ones showing it while encouraging the ones who are as-yet undecided.

3. What if they choose not to show it because
Edited on Mon Jun-14-04 01:46 PM by LuminousX
they don't normally show documentaries. I think it is a little absurd to think that every theater that doesn't show it is part of some form of cryptocorporate censorship. If you find there isn't any theater in your community playing it, then contact those theaters and find out why. On some of this stuff theaters wait to see how well it will do at the box office.

on edit:
It is more important that people can see this film, not so important that it gets rammed down their throats.

Fahrenheit 9/11. The chain that owns the monopoly where I live is one of the undecideds.

13. But if there are that many sheep to make it a blockbuster success
... well, I think that makes my point - theaters should carry it to make money. Your argument is they shouldn't carry it because they will lose money.

Obviously, you've seen the film and can give us a detailed list of all the factual errors.

Or you could just be a brain-dead idiot who hates freedom of speech.

They are far too cowardly to watch the film for themselves. It may shake their baseless faith in their masters, and challenge them to do something completely new to them; Think.

15. Actually...
most people consider him a brilliant filmmaker.

That's why he's won at the Oscars and Cannes.

Very few people think he's a clown and propagandist. In fact, the only people who think that way are those ignorant retards, the freepers.

You know, like most registered voters voted against George W. Bush.

That kind of most people.

The majority.

"Micheal Moore is regarded as a clown an propogandist by most people".

"In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a scarce and brave man, hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds however, the timid join him,for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."

Get some speed and a life.

30. No film is carried by every theater
However, if a theater that showed "Bowling for Columbine" isn't showing F-9/11, writing to the theater management might persuade them to.

Since every showing Moore has done so far has been in such demand that extra showings were required, I'm sure $$$ will persuade other theaters to add it later. Theaters look at per screen revenue to judge the success of a movie, not weekend box office.
