Blacks Beware: Election Maelstrom may be Brewing

For a president whose popularity seems to be plummeting along with the expectation that weapons of mass destruction will eventually turn up in Iraq, George W. Bush seems a bit smug about his chances of being re-elected.

"It’s not my intent to lose," Bush told journalist Tim Russert last Sunday on NBC’s "Meet the Press." "I don’t plan on losing."

Coming from anyone else, it would be easy to blow those words off as typical election year bluster. But when those words come from Bush -- a man who was helped into the White House because of widespread voting irregularities in the state governed by his brother -- you almost have to wonder if his words carry a bit of wink-nod with them.

He's stating a fact. He still thinks the fix is in.

Every Democratic club better recruit poll watchers from local football squads as well as law schools.

Vigilance with muscle.

If Bush is expressing significant confidence, we're in trouble. They'll pull out all the stops. Could mean anything, or a combination of things. i've spent the last week seriously worried about this (as opposed to occasionally worried about this which is my norm).
