The magazine I sued to work for ran a piece about the Klausutis situation; not directly implicating him, but raising all of the questions that need to be raised.

Somehow, when the issue was at the printer's, Scarborough got word of the story. We got a letter from his lawyers, demanding that we not run it. Unfortunately for him, we were way beyond the "Stop the presses!" stage. It's not like we wouldn't have run the story anyway.

At any rate, never heard back from his lawyers on the matter.

On July 21, 2001, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, the body of Lori Klausutis, 28, was found in the office of U.S. Representative Joe Scarborough, 38, for whom Klausutis worked as an aide. Police on the scene said there were no indications of forced entry or physical struggle and "no signs of trauma to the body." The official medical examiner, Dr. Michael Berkland, then conducted an extensive autopsy - more than 80 hours - before announcing his findings last week.

Berkland said Klausutis died from a blow to the head, probably caused when she fainted and fell to the floor after an attack of a previously undiagnosed "valvular condition of the heart." Klausutis, an avid runner and member of the Northwest Florida Track Club, had never evinced heart problems before - but such things happen, Berkland said. He also admitted that authorities had previously lied about her fatal wound in order to forestall media inquiries into the case. "The last thing we wanted was 40 questions about a head injury," he told the Northwest Florida Daily News.

Berkland moved to Florida after his medical license was revoked in Missouri following a 1998 case in which he was found to have falsified information in an autopsy report, American Political Journal reported.

A young female employee of one of Florida's Congressmen had died unexpectedly in the Congressman's office. There were no witnesses to her death and the cause of death was not apparent. Klausutis' boss, Joe Scarborough had recently resigned from Congress prematurely and unexpectedly, amid rumors about his marital fidelity and soon after a divorce. He had also abruptly resigned as publisher of the Independent Florida Sun, claiming that resigning from Congress and as publisher was necessary to spend more time with his sons.
The results of the mandated autopsy, however, were deemed "inconclusive" by Dr. Michael Berkland

Dr. Michael Berkland, it turns out, has a very interesting background himself. Recently relocated to Florida, it is a matter of public record that Dr. Berkland's medical license in the state of Missouri was revoked in 1998 as a result of Berkland reporting false information regarding brain tissue samples in a 1996 autopsy report. Berkland does not deny the charges.
It's also a matter of public record that he was suspended from his position as Medical Examiner in the State of Florida in July, 1999

Indeed. On May 29, 2003, Scarborough appeared on Don Imus's radio show. While complimenting Scarborough on his sense of humor, Imus said, "Don't be afraid to be funny, because you are funny. I asked you why you aren't in Congress. You said that you had sex with the intern, and then you had to kill her." Scarborough laughed and replied, "Yeah, well, what are you gonna do?""


So here we have Joe Scarborough being asked point blank if he had sex with his intern and then killed her. Joes response is "Yeah, well, what are you gonna do?" In effect, he gave an ambiguous statement that implied that he may have killed his own intern.

So I don't think Michael Moore is in any danger when he says that Scarborough is a murderer. The fact that he doesn't refer to the instance EXACTLY probably gives him more ammo.

I seriously doubt that Scarborough has offered Michael Moore airtime on his show. He knows damn well that Moore would tear him apart. Rather, he is just posturing to make himself look tough like most cowards do.

One thing is for certain. Scarborough's intern was MURDERED!!!! She had blunt force had trauma. This is on par with the Chappaquitic incident. And they tried to cover it up!!!!!!

It's not that conclusive, but Scarborough is guilty of something.

In 2001, Joe Scarborough was one of the golden boys in Congress, until he unexpectedly announced he was divorcing his wife, denying rumors of his infidelity. A few months later he just as suddenly announced he was retiring from Congress to spend more time with the family he had just divorced (I kid you not). There were rumors of affairs, and of stories about to break of his infidelity, etc.

Soon after this, a dead woman was found in his Florida office. This was while Gary Condit/Shandra Levi was 24/7. Surprisingly, this barely made national news, but it made local news. The coroner and police chief announced that the 28 year old woman had died of natural causes, that there were no visible signs of trauma to her body, and an autopsy was planned. Meanwhile, the media began claiming she had a history of siezures stemming from an accident a decade before.

Soon afterwards, the media reported that she did not have a history of siezures, and was in fact a marathon runner in peak shape.

A week later the coroner announced that it would take several more weeks to determine the cause of death, yet the next morning he announced his findings. She had died of a blow to the head, caused in his opinion by a heart arythmia (just like Bush's pretzel story), which caused her to faint, striking her head on the side of a desk, which killed her. When asked about his initial claim that there were no visible signs of violence to her body, the coroner said (and this is as close to the exact quote as I can get) "We didn't want people asking a lot of questions about a dead woman with a blow to her head."

In other words, Scarborough got the police chief and the coroner to cover up and lie about the condition of the body. Also, the newspapers who had been circulating the story that Lari Klausitus had been prone to siezures fingered Scarborough himself as the source of these stories, then told them she wasn't prone to siezures.

The coroner, it turned out, had been previously de-licensed for falsifying coroner reports in another state.

Scarborough was in DC when the death occured. So was the woman's husband, for some reason. Neither actually did it. It's possible the coroner was right about the cause of death (though it seems implausible to me that a 5'8" woman could faint and strike the side of her head, not the front or back, on a three foot high desk with that much force). But the circumstances are odd.

And regardless of whether she was murdered, the fact remains that Scarborough tried to cover up what had happened to her. He got the coroner and police chief to lie about the head wound. And he gave the media a fake cover story about her medical history. If she was murdered, Joe did everything he could to make sure that the murderer would not be discovered, and since there is no way he could have been sure that she wasn't murdered at that early stage (assuming she wasn't), it means he at least covered up a potential crime for his own protection. Whether he killed her, or whether he was just worried that he would be blamed for it, he obstructed an investigation of a possible homicide for his own benefit.

So he's a piece of garbage. MSNBC hiring him would be like hiring OJ to cover sports. It's a pure insult to anyone touched by violent crime anywhere. Not that they care.
