for all the moaning from the right about Kerry delaying his acceptance
Wonder if they know who was the first canidate to accept his nomination at the convention? Washington? Lincoln? TR? James K Polk? Give up?

It was FDR in 1932. Until then, the nomination was NEVER accepted at the convention and usually delayed a few weeks. So, it's really not that big of a deal, and would help Kerry out. Too bad they've already decided against it.

1. They better have a plan for those 5 weeks in between the Dem
and Repub conventions or else we could be screwed. I'm assuming they have a plan - it helps me sleep nights (and I sleep like sh@#).

Shrub's money really hasn't helped him much though but I'm sure those negative adds are going to get much nastier.

2. The Ironic Thing About These Complaints
is that Bush delayed his own nomination in the same election year for blatantly political purposes. He did it by delaying the entire convention until it was too late to meet the ballot deadline in many states.

But because of the way Bush did it, because Democrats didn't put up a fight, and because of the way it would be reported, it would be perceived more negatively if Kerry delayed his own acceptance of the nomination. That's why it would still be a bad idea politically for Kerry to delay accepting the nomination even though it's merely responding to what Bush did.
