Arrest Rumsfeld to Challenge Bush's Policies |
|
Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 10:10 AM by LeftHander
From the Administration's own document on leaked to the press Donald Rumsfeld has violated U.S. Federal Statute 18 U.S.C. 2340.
Rumsfled by authorizing treatment that was "intended to inflict severe physical or mental pain..." broke U.S. laws and he should be arrested.
This is the only way to challenge Ashcroft's assertion that the Administration was following the law when it came to policies regarding detainee treatment.
If you read the document Section III A. 2. speaks of this particular statute and how a person can be charged for violating this law. It perfectly lays out:
TO be guilty of violation the prosectution must prove
1. the act occured outside the U.S. (Iraq - Yup)
2. Must of had power and control over the victim (Rumsfeld could free or recommend anyone in Iraq for detention and he did - the 52 cards)
3. Defendant operated under the color of law.
Rumsfeld argued that his policies of "harsh" treatement were under the guise existing of U.S. law. His own policy memos and documents can prove that.
4. Intended to cause severe Mental or Physical pain.
I think there is enough photo evidence alone that the actions that Rumsfeld approved fit under the definition of "severe".

2. Can we conduct a "citizen's" arrest of a suspected terrorist? |
|
From the increase in terrorism activity we have seen, HE has been one of the forces fostering this increase. Any provisions of the "Patriot" act that addresses this?
