Well, I must admit it took me a LONG time. But for me it's an interesting discovery. Trying to understand what the impact of *'s religious outbreaks has on some 'religious groups/people'.



To put it very bluntly, the statement thrown down is - when you believe in God, you believe * is a good president.

Since a large part of the religious community followed * for such a long time, people got trapped. They feel they need to believe he's doing the right thing cause he's with God.
In other words / not believing in your president, means not believing in God.

Perhaps it's not even so harsh, but that could be a general feeling that runs through these people's minds.
A community wrapper is all it needs and will hold these thoughts together, cause being an outcast in a religious community would mean being with the enemy / aka the Devil.

It's an interesting technique.

More thoughts on it some other time. Please spill your thoughts about it as well.

Some people close to me are making me understand it now. Some of my 'radical' findings I present them, they do not read / but put away with a suddle *if this where true, we would be in great danger* (only reading the title and a small excerpt)
Never even planning on reading everything.....partly fear of finding out things destroying what they believe in. And also not knowing how to deal with the information with their community

1. Bush's idea of God is exactly the same as Osama bin Laden's.

Both of those men are religious fundamentalists who believe that God speaks to them directly, and tells them what to do in his name. This is an extremely arrogant way of thinking, and more often than not it just leads to violence. And the people responsible don't feel the need to face up to their actions, because how could something that God told them to do possibly be wrong? Bin Laden thinks God told him to plan what became 9/11, and Bush thinks God told him to invade Iraq. Religious fundamentalism is the single most dangerous thing in the entire world.

2. actually..........perhaps in *'s way it might even be a 'tool'

for control. I still find it hard to believe that he's a religious man. But the religion does have an effect for ruling the country and gaining support. Cause who would deny God.

I'm more talking about an on purpose setup of events.
And yes you're definately right @ most dangerous thing......

3. I"m not sure it's just religion

I mean certainly there is a segment of the religious population that is more comfortable with what they percieve of as a religious man at the helm. On the other hand, President Bush's Messianic tendencies turn many more main stream Christians off.

I do think part of the problem is that we as a party are percieved as being hostile to religion, a perception the Rush Limbaugh's of the world do everything they can to foster. So we aren't really a very positive alternative in their minds, I don't think.

5. My mom is a very religious women.

Her church is very important to her, the center of her life. But she cannot understand how anyone can claim bush is a good Christian.
She gets so angry at some of her friends who make this claim. I've heard my sweet, kind 72 year old mom demand they explain in what way his actions are Christian. I really LOVE my mom.

4. Kerry is Catholic

therefore supposedly he and * believe in the same deity. That criteria being met the choice of voting between them must be made on other differences.

More likely people are using religion to justify internalized biases and beliefs which do not mesh with what is easily shown to be true of the two candidates.
