Freepers show utter contempt for Reagan's family
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1154704/posts

In a nutshell the link relates to an article where Reagan's family has objected to the use of Reagan's image in an anti-Kerry ad.

Here's a real classy comment:

To: areafiftyone

America transferred it's love for Ronald Reagan to his wife this past week. That affection can be taken back in a heartbeat. Something the Reagan family ought to keep in mind.

We can honor and revere Ronald Reagan and revert to our earlier opinions of his chilren and his wife.

Just when you think these people couldn't be any lower on the chain of carbon based life forms I see something on their site that shows just how much lower they can descend into the slime and ooze.

2. Anyone who disagrees with Bush and his policies is a traitor
Edited on Wed Jun-16-04 02:31 PM by tandot
Freepers would love to live in a dictatorship, with Bush as their King. No dissent, no freedom of speech, no democracy, and everybody must have the same religion or be burned at the stake.

Some freepers seem to have more sense, though:

I disagree with using RR in anything.

GWB is no Ronald Reagan.

plus, with Ron Jr. already firing a first salvo, you will just stir up the Reagan children to fight back...who needs that.

I truly hope they "stir up the Reagan children to fight back..." WE NEED THAT. That would be just the icing on the cake.

Let's erect big statues and remember our heroes, comrades! They would all approve of everything I'm doing!

Why shouldn't they behave like their Soviet Counterparts, sans the Communism?

4. They want his image, but could care less about the family
To: areafiftyone
Which network does Ron Reagan work for? Is it not NBC?

This is proof that his ungrateful children would never have attended the funeral if it was not on TV. (or kerry attend the viewing unles on TV)

A Reagan family spokeswoman said the group does not have permission to use Reagan's image in the ad because doing so implies his endorsement.
The "Reagan Family" (whatever that is) can kiss my butt. Who gives a damn what they think? Ronald Reagan was the people's President. We all know what he stood for, and were he alive and conscious today he would urge all Americans to vote for George W. Bush. We don't need ultra-leftwingers Ron Jr and Patti to give us permission to use RWR's image, words, or stated beliefs in any ad.

The Kennedys tried to do this when Club for Growth ran a JFK tax cut ad in 2001. Screw 'em.

7. who said they were carbon based?
or life forms? I personally think they are more like sewage -- a little bit (left in the sun for a while) is fertilizer and good for your plants, but when you put enough of it together for it to flow, it's bad for the environment, nobody wants to be near it, it stinks, and it keeps rolling until it can't get any lower.

11. You're missing the nuance here..
.. they still revere Ronnnie.. they have just transferred all the hate to his family. As long as Reagan can't rise from the dead and dispute them, they can believe.. in their tiny hearts.. that Reagan would agree with them, not his family. They are separating the man from the family, thereby retaining Reagan's mythical GOP status.

23. Maybe we really DO need Zombie Reagan then
Ronnie's rotting corpse could atone for some of his past sins by kicking some Freeper ass. The only problem with zombies stalking Freepers is that Freeps have no brains, so poor Zombie Ronnie would starve :(

13. First Post!!!! Yea!
I think everytime they try to use RR's image, words, etc. in an ad they are going to hear from this family spokesperson. They have probably received a blanket approval to blast any use of Reagan in Bush* ads. I thought Buchanan's column was good a few days ago (he worked in the Reagan White House) when he asked "Was Reagan The First Neo-Con?" His answer was an emphatic NO and wrote that the Reagan he knew would have never set out on this crazy war with Iraq. He argues that he was NOT a neo-con in any sense of the word and that these people are a whole different group of influence. So for the Freepers to argue that he would be with Bush on all of this is doubtful. They won't get away with turning Bush into another Ronald Reagan, try as they might. As Ron said, "George W. Bush is'nt fit to carry out my father's garbage." Take THAT Freepville.

16. So does this imply that now we are supposed to be Reagan fans??
'cause if so, that dog don't hunt in these parts.

Let the Reagans fade into history...if the freeps want to disown them, all the power to them. That just means potentially less things being named after RWr.

hi newsmeat
I don't think so. It says that RR's children being anti-bush* is a good thing. They also oppose all the naming things after him. They say he was a modest man and would be embarrased by it all. Ron and Patti are great!

21. Except that
Maureen is dead and Nancy is a very old woman. She's giving Bush* hell over stem cell research anyway. Patti has made it clear, as well as Ron, that using their dad to help with *'s reelection is unacceptable. We don't have to like RR. But, he is an icon (legend?) to many Americans and having his family on the other side of the BushCo fence is GOOD for us.

17. This seems wierd to me
We can honor and revere Ronald Reagan and revert to our earlier opinions of his chilren and his wife.

So...they (at least, this one freep) didn't like Nancy before now? I mean, I didn't either, but I would have thought freeper dittohead mentality would have demanded that he like Nancita as well.

Actually, I like her a little more now that she's in public opposition to Bush's stem cell policy, even if her only reasons have to do with Ronnie.

22. My favorite FReeper was just OUTRAGED when
John Kerry used a picture of some of his swift boat
fellows in a campaign ad. These guys were supposedly
mad because Kerry didn't ask for permission.

I sent an article to him about this. I'm wondering
how deafening his silence will be.
