1. Dude
You think North Shore of Long Island is some liberal stronghold? Texas has its own grid because we like to be independent.

5. You know what I find disturbing about your comment...
Texan corporations can be the worst carpetbaggers around. Look what they tried to do to California with Enron. It's like warfare using the commodity & service markets as a weapon. So they push for deregulation that affects other states, and there they are ready to swoop down and take over.

13. Texas has its own grid because...
Texans don't work well with others. And they don't work well with others because they have well-deserved feelings of inferiority which they cover with bravado.

This message comes to you from an observant citizen of Houston who is not a Texan.

Something fishy. Something is in the making that we are not going to like. Mark my words. People better wake up and stop bowing to the king boys. I won't hold my breath, especially after seeing the men in uniform this morning on C-Span, flocking to get a look at such a ....you can fill in the blanks, as well as I can.

12. East Coast chauvinism is really thick in these comments!
Keep up such attitudes and Democrats may never win back any of the red states!

Yes, there are people and even cities in the vast reaches of "flyover" country. There are even liberals. Do the names Wellstone, Kucinich, et al. ring any bells?

Blackouts, extreme weather etc. _do_ happen in other areas too. The fact is, we only get the massive TV coverage if it involves NYC, the Bowash metropolis, or the Los Angeles area. Otherwise, just quaint cameos of people paddling boats thru floods, then back to the rest of the "news."

In three hours' coverage on three different channels last night, there wasn't any news except the blackout.

Sorry, but I've lived long-term in four different areas of the "hinterland". In each of them, truly catastrophic weather and other disasters have rated just footnotes at most in media coverage.

as another warning to NY. You know...Anthrax/Daschle type of warning?
Here's what we can/will do if you don't come around to OUR way of thinking. ANOTHER repuke think tank at work. JMO.
