Did Bush really say yesterday that it was "just a domestic problem"?

If someone has a link to this quote, or a transcript, please post it! Yesterday, there was a thread or two about Ted Koppel reporting this on ABC, with somewhat derisive sarcsam, apparently because he couldn't believe Bush would say this.

If he did, then apparently Karl and Dick sat him down for a good talking to, because he seemed to have a lot to say about it later. (http://abcnews.go.com/wire/Politics/ap20030815_105.html)

For the record, though, I fully believe that the "domestic" quote WAS his initial response. It just fits his M.O. The moran probably doesn't even understand the difference between "domestic" and "regional" (which is what he probably meant), or that a silly little "regional" problem like a blackout affecting tens of millions across several states and two countries might merit some "White House input".

just a promising scenario I saw last night re: Dan Rather. He kept questioning the field reporters in San Diego and DC saying "where is Bush?", "will he go ahead with his campaign fundraiser at a time like this", "where is cheney", "why is the chief of staff the one responsible for addressing the public", etc... These aren't his exact quotes, but they caught the mood, and it really came across as if Brokaw was slamming the white house for being away on vacation and completely ignoring the situation:) Very promising:)

And cheney, the last we heard from him he was on vacation....... (something thereabouts). Cracked me up big time! The network dudes and dudettes probably joke around just like us about Cheney being in continual hiding in an undisclosed location somewhere on this earth.....

4. I went to the abc link and noticed

that they didn't give *'s entire quote. He said "We'll have time to look at it and determine whether or not our grid needs to be modernized." They left off the rest of the sentence which is "I happen to think it does, and have said so all along." Total bushit. Go to http://www.buzzflash.com/analysis/03/08/15_blackout.html
and read how in June of 2001 he opposed and GOP voted down legislation to modernize the power grid.

... the grid. Straight party line, all the way. And not just because the $600M aid to the poor was thrown in (we know they hate that). The specific amendment regarding modernization of the grid through loans was voted down in committe on a party line vote.

Democrats should bring this up throughout Election 2004.

They could tie this in with Enron too, how the pukes just wanted to deregulate so that their corporate buddies in the energy field could afford platinum harnesses for their polo ponies while the great unwashed have to go without power and get hung up in cities overnight. 5. That sounds like Bush

The Bush family has a hard time realizing that they are President of the United States. Not President of the World, or Iraq, or the Middle East. So Domestic Issues are never of their concern.

7. I despise Bush*, but I can't help thinking that he was using the word

"domestic" as in "enemies, foreign or domestic". Probably he just wanted to say it wasn't foreigners. Problem is, that leaves us wondering if the "domestic" was referring to enemies/terrorism--which he probably didn't mean to imply. Did he? Hmmm. The more I try to figure out what he could have meant, the harder it gets to see it as anything but major bumbling.

Still, I think one can't rule out that he no longer cares (if he ever did care) about what happens in the US, being so self-importantly concerned with spreading democracy abroad. :puke:

It's the same old story. The administration will call for billions on unproven and/or ineffective weapons that do not guarantee our safety, yet stiff state, local and federal government when it comes to spending that might actually prevent or deal with a crisis. This is madness, and we're going to pay for it in one fashion or another.
