I have a question about this comment (regarding Reagan)...

"Mr. Reagan's contempt and anger at the civil disobedience movement, the anti-war protestors, and the campus demonstrators found another expression when his administration transferred state budget support from the "elitist" University of California system to what he regarded as the more acceptably docile California State University system."

Not to sound dumb or ignorant, but are the California State Universities really conservative?

2. yes, dear Rayguns did that the year before i would have started

college. Instead of an affordable, excellent university I was faced with tuitions way beyond the means of an emancipated minor

I still don't have a college degree, in spite of an IQ well into the genius level. Did it make a difference in my life? I must assume so, altho today I own my own business and seem to be muddling thru I sometimes wonder what direction my life would have taken if I had gone to university as I had planned.

I must also add my mother was hospitalized regularly for manic depression when Thorazine was the only medication available. Thanks to Rayguns, she was sent to jail instead of the hospital during some of the more "exciting" manic phases
