Are we ever going to know what REALLY happened before and on 9/11?

I've been following the coverage of the 9-11 Commission fairly closely, and am now reading at the website http://www.cooperativeresearch.org/ the Commission's report contains some errors, mostly by ignoring the facts contained in Richard Clarke's book.
Then there's the debate here about the level of complicitness or involvement of the Bush administration. I guess I have 2 questions:
1) Does anyone besides me find all of this information so confusing to sort through that you can't even figure out what YOU think? and
2) Do you think we'll ever KNOW what happened, or will this remain one of the great mysteries of history?

1. The next 9/11 Comission

The next 9/11 Commission will dig a little deeper and the one after that may just get to the bottom of the whole sordid affair.

The evidence of the attempts to hide and obstruct the facts from the People are enough to inform even the most casual observer that the real truth is just to awful to be told at this time.

The push by the families, boosted by internet musings, will eventually lead to uncovering the details. Just don't hold your breath.

Who is gonna be satisfied with this current report? That dissatisfaction will grow and grow. Once Kerry is President, he will surely get another study going. Besides, there are so many new revelations coming out even at this late date that you know there are many many more untold stories.

There may be a tendency once the neocons and Bushista's are "neutralized" and out of power (I pray)--for many to want to "just move on..." Having lived through Watergate & Iran Contra--with all those who argued we were better off with key players being pardoned....

2. If we don't ask, then surely we will never know.

There are many questions out there but few of us in visible positions were asking might make a get answers instead of spin. The press in years past did 'investigative journalism'. Not anymore. All of the major news outlets are all owned by few large companies that depend on getting rules, regulations, and legislation passed by those in power. They are not going to bite the hands that feed them.

The only thing we can do is keep there feet to the fire and try to hurt them economically by not buying from those that advertise with them.

9. People asking questions..

You're right that people in positions of power aren't asking all of the questions right now. But groups like http://www.911citizenswatch.org/ and others, the findings of which I haven't had the time to explore, are encouraging. I think the Internet, and the natural curiosity of people, esp. of many of the victims' families, will help us find answers.

3. maybe... perhaps about the time we learn what really happened to

JFK, RFK, MLK,in the Roswell incident.... and anything else so noteable with lingering questions in the 20th- early 21st century. But, better plan to live at least until 2050 or longer (and maintain your mental faculties/curiosity).

Actually I'll be 68 in 2050... did the math wrong, added 50 to my current age, not my age in 2000... looks like I'm losing it already doesn't look good for me by 2050...

12. I don't know anything about the site you referenced, but

I actually watched every minute of the public hearings. The people on this site can't possible know what;s in the 911 Report because it's just being put together now. They are to have it completed the end of July, veted, and released to the public a few weeks after that.

You may not hear exactly what you want to hear, and inplication of the people we'd all love to see, but the hearing yesterday was probebly the most telling of them all to me. On Sept 11th, there was a problem in each and every area that touched it! From the controllers not notifying their supervisores right away, the supervisors not notifying the FAA, those at the FAA weren't sure what to do.........all the way to the phone Co. having trouble getting a secure line to the WH, it was really awful, and every one of the people who testified admitted the errors. The best they could say is that it's better now.

I think we all may be surprised at the detail of this report.

13. I was really intersted in yesterday's hearing too

I don't anything about the websites I referenced either (typing that I realize that makes me look pretty dumb) but I was just making the point that I'm really overwhelmed by all of the information that's out there.

I think the hearings yesterday were telling too, and sad. Sad because it showed that these guys aren't just thugs, but smart thugs.

Seems to me they were just so arrogant they didn't think ANYONE would ever cause such terror form INSIDE our own borders. You heard the testimony....we were looking outward! Hell, they even had the initial jets scramble out over the ocean instead of heading south out of Boston. I think that same arrogance was the reason noone paid any attention to the "osama intent on terror attack indide the US" memo.

To me, I think a great last line in the 911 Report should be "EVERYONE was asleep at the switch!"

19. I heard General Myers say that (looking outward)

and I think it's just a talking point. Little basis in fact.

General Myers:
1) we were looking outward.
2) everything has changed since 9/11.
3) before 9/11 terrorism was treated as just another crime.

Over and over again, no matter what the question.

14. I watched this week's hearings

I agree. The incompetence at the top at FAA and NMCC (a NORAD group I believe, that was set up to coordinate communications between agencies), especially FAA, was just unbelievable.

I don't have any reason to disbelieve their version so far, although I'm sure some details are wrong and it's not the whole story (as is almost always true).

Almost every single piece of information that went to FAA headquarters just stayed there. Someone likened it to a black hole (Kerrey?).

FAA has a conflicting mandate: airline safety and the well being of the airlines. And they were known for incompetence even before 9/11. But geez, they really should be in the Guinness book of records for Most Incompetent, or something.

It's really worth watching on Cspan.org--riveting, even.

is nothing more than a new version of the Warren Report. And fat chance that we`ll know any more about 9/11 30 years from now, than we know about the murders of J.F.K. , M.L.K., and R.F.K. today.
