Please vote in this poll...

It's for a local news show. It's about the Patriot Act.

4. done
We're trying to get a city resolution affirming civil rights and opposing the U.S. Patriot Act here in Austin, TX. We thought we would get a vote from the city council yesterday but they postponed it due to having to deal with our budget first. It's been delayed for a month, but we are hopeful.

Take the fight for your rights to your community.

9. Now 79% no, 21% yes.
I would have thought the very general nature of the question would have gotten a more even response, so I'm glad to see this outcome.

10. I'd have liked the poll better if it had
something like:

Are you familiar with the contents of the Patriot Act?

I'll be most voting yes don't much know what they are voting on - just that Rush told 'em it was good fer America.

Good luck to your local Bill of Rights Defense Committee!

We have been pretty successful in Oregon, some mid-size cities and several small towns and a couple of counties have produced anti-Patriot Act proclamations. Our Bill of Rights Defense Committees have joined forces now to try to get the Oregon Legislature itself to do the same -- we'd love to be the FOURTH whole state to go that route, following Hawaii, Alaska and Vermont.

The basic message here is that we wil not spend local tax revenues for local law enforcement personnel and facilities to enforce any provisions of the Patriot Act. (we don't have the funds to do so anyway).

The community meetings held everywhere have been a great way of teaching people more about the provisions of the Act. Those who have attended have learned a lot and always go away angry and energized. Certainly the media has done NOTHING to alert folks to the Patriot Act's horrible provisions other than occasional news reports when someone has been arrested.

14. Wow! 85% have voted "no"

Does that mean we DU'd the poll, or does it actually reflect what the public believes?
