I'm back in Seattle after a successful week campaigning East of the Cascades with Julie G. Thank you so much to everyone who helped organize the trip! Big thank yous go out to Judy, Ken, Linda, Zach, Wes and Flossie. I made many great contacts and had a wonderful time!
I had a meet&greet last Friday night in Yakima, and then I attended Yakima's Gay Pride Picnic the next morning, where I garnered the endorsement of the chair of the fourth congressional district. After the picnic, we drove further east to attend Garfield County's Tumbleweed Festival. The next day, we attended an event for Don Barbieri in Pullman. On Monday, I spoke to a class at WSU in the morning, had a lunch-time interview with the local paper, spoke to a group of students and Pullman residents on campus at the CUB in the afternoon and spent the evening at a lovely fundraiser at a wine bar in town. I drove south on Tuesday to Clarkston to speak with an enthusiastic group of Asotin County Democrats. On Wednesday, we stopped to buy cherries at a farmstand; we met an 18-year-old girl who had just registered to vote and was excited to be voting for the first time this fall. We went on with our delicious cherries to visit the Tri-Cities, where I spoke at the Benton County Democrats monthly meeting.
It's nice to be home in my own bed again for a bit, but I'll be hitting the road again soon enough! Thanks again to everyone who helped organize my trip, hosted me and Julie en route, etc.
