Think about what this legenday statement means.

Doesn't anyone get it? Paul Johnson? Nich Berg? 911? Anthrax? All of it?

It seems so blantly obvious!

1. Roosevelt was a Democrat
It's not really a Republican concept

2. But Republicans are in the fear business

For all of his "morning in America" crap, Reagan was a fear monger

In order to hold America rapt in his movie star fantasy, Reagan had to create an "Evil Empire" to play off of.

For all of his "optimism" (which is also crap - I refer to *'s add 'pessimism never created a job) * is a fear monger. He had to create an "axis of evil"

They have to keep us afraid of something in order to remain in power

:dem:

3. I think we are in agreement
They don't see fear as something to fear, but something to respect and wield like a sword.

4. To me the statement means
that since we are militarily the strongest, the only weapon we are imperviable to is fear.

6. Interestingly, the quote had nothing to do with WWII
Although often attributed as a wartime quote, it was made at his first inaugural in 1933 in reference to economic conditions during the Depression.

5. Here is the perfect quote Bush and the Right should learn
Edited on Sat Jun-19-04 02:32 PM by Quixote1818
"Fear is the main source of superstition, and one of the main sources of cruelty. To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom." Bertrand Russell

Looking back we now see that the WMD's were simply superstition born out of fear and because of that superstition we killed thousands of Innocent Iraq civilians.

7. I was watching "Bowling for Columbine" this morning
And the main gist of the film is that we are a nation built on a culture of fear. Fear of terrorism. Fear of crime. Fear of illness. And fear of other races.

According to the movie, perhaps that's one of the reasons we have so much crime and violence in our society.

9. I am in complete agreement with the message of that movie.
This is how bush plans to stay in power. Weild fear and keep the people down.

We promise according to our hopes and perform according to our fears.
