Worried about the types of protests that have marred other major meetings around the nation, the county's juvenile court judge wants to make sure jail space is available to house lawbreakers during this weekend's National Governors Association conference.

"I'm trying to get kids out of our detention center, so if hundreds of kids end up getting arrested (this weekend) we have the capacity to arrest them," said Judge James Payne.

Payne spent this morning poring over the files of young people locked up in the county's juvenile detention center and deciding which ones could be let go. By 9 a.m., he said he had targeted eight juveniles for release.
