* playing into Bin Laden's hands?

From an article on commondreams.org

Is this a hint at coming attractions?

Bush Told He is Playing into Bin Laden's
Hands
Al-Qaida may 'reward' American president with strike aimed at
keeping him in office, senior intelligence man says
by Julian Borger in Washington

A senior US intelligence official is about to publish a bitter condemnation of
America's counter-terrorism policy, arguing that the west is losing the war against al-Qaida
and that an "avaricious, premeditated, unprovoked" war in Iraq has played into Osama bin
Laden's hands.

Imperial Hubris: Why the West is Losing the War on Terror, due out next month,
dismisses two of the most frequent boasts of the Bush administration: that Bin Laden and
al-Qaida are "on the run" and that the Iraq invasion has made America safer.

In an interview with the Guardian the official, who writes as "Anonymous",
described al-Qaida as a much more proficient and focused organization than it was in 2001,
and predicted that it would "inevitably" acquire weapons of mass destruction and try to
use them.

*being "rewarded" with strike to keep him in office.......hmmm, the infamous OCT
surprise?

How..........predictable........

1. Don't see how a terror strike would "predictably" keep him in office
Ask Jose Maria Aznar how well that technique works

2. he already failed to protect America from one attack
I don't see how he would score points with a second attack.

5. A second attack would send the American people,
who already are scared of their own shadows, into a frenzy of fear. Fear is what this administration feeds on; they are masters of emotional manipulation, of channeling fear into political power.
In corroboration with their propaganda arm, the media, they will prevent the people from making the proper connections, from drawing the correct conclusions. Thus, yet another failure on *'s part will be presented as another great victory.

Why do you think the "neo"Con talking heads are floating the meme of an election-affecting attack? They need that attack in order to stay in power, so they're preparing the people to respond the way they want them to.

4. October Surprise?
It wouldn't be surprising, given the Bush family history. I don't think it would do any more for "W" than it did for Poppy, however, that doesn't mean that "W" wouldn't buy it. Wouldn't the best way to prevent it be to get out there and predict it?

Good knitting,
Morcat

6. I think that if we get attacked again,
Bush would be in trouble. His big claim is that he keeps us safe against terror. If we suffer another attack, here in the US, that would nullify his big claim. Unless, of course, they declare martial law. :scared:

7. We continue to hear daily
that an attack will happen. Either, * or one of the other top officials, make a point of using this as spin on why we need to keep fighting this War on Terra. They also try to distort the facts re: how terra changed the election in Madrid. For this reason, I fear another attack is a guarantee for * by those who believe in his fear campaign spin. Fear, fear and more fear is what this administration preaches and some people really believe * is a tough guy willing to take the terrorist on. They loved the "Bring um on" comment.

Fear is the best known propaganda to strengthen *'s needs to be in charge. It's scary and I fear the lengths this administration will go to get elected the first time in a second administration.

I hope I'm wrong.

It's late so I hope I'm making sense.

8. You're making sense.
I just hope that you're wrong. We can't survive four more years of this bunch, we just can't.

9. I do too, Kool Kitty,
I desperately want to be wrong but the arrogance this administration displays is beyond my comprehension. We see what has happened in 3+years, we certainly can't survive 4 more. We must win!

That's just how sick this misadministration, and the citizenry, have become.

Too bad we can't just call 911 and send 'em all to the hospital, and have it all patched up.

When I see all the information coming out about what bushwa &co is all about, and yet his "approval ratings" are still as high as they are, that's a clear clue to me that the population of this country simply isn't capable of thinking clearly, and that means they'll buy *anything*, which means we're in deep sununu.

I really hope that we are all wrong, and this nation comes to a sudden and quick healing of what ails is, and returns to some semblance of sanity.

12. Some thoughts
1st- the election in Spain/train attack - The Spanish were going to vote in a new leader regardless of the attack. The Spanish wanted their soilders out of Iraq. The canidate who said he'd bring the Spanish troops home was leading in all the polls of the Spanish people re: who they were voting for prior to the election. What the train attack DID do, was cause a record voter turnout in Spain. That the current admin continually lies about this and spins it incorrectly is very disturbing, and possibly very telling.

Next this "FOR SURE, DEFINITE" attack the admin always keeps bringing up coincidentaly is followed by the spin on the Spanish election.

Looking at those two things together in my opinion, any attack (that the admin has already said WILL, not could, WILL happen)late summer - oct/nov will cause martial law to be enacted, and elections "posponed" until it's "safer" to hold them.

I hope I'm wrong.
