There are rumors that the president is under significant stress, and that his emotional state is becoming shakey. While there is a possibility that this is being slightly enhanced by our desire to see the old boy freak out the next time MSNBC's David Gregory asks,"How about the grand jury investigation of the Valerie Plame leak?" .... I think that he has looked a bit frazzled. It reminds me of what can happen to a Texas president. Remember how by late 1967, LBJ was telling his closest associates that during the days, he was frequently thinking of Woodrow Wilson's last 18 months in office, "stretched out upstairs in the White House, powerless to move, with the machinery of the American government in disarray around him." By early 1968, LBJ had a reoccurring dream "of being chased on all sides by a giant stampede ... I was being forced over the edge by rioting blacks, demonstrating students, marching welfare mothers, squawking professors, and hysterical reporters. And then the final straw. The thing I feared from the first day of my presidency was actually coming true. Robert Kennedy had openly announced his intention to reclaim the throne in the memory of his brother. And the American people, swayed by the magic of the name, were dancing in the streets."
Let's reclaim the throne!
