Please support Michael Moore
One of the great things about this site is that the members keep a constant view on what is going on in the main stream media. In fact, over the past year or so, this site has been my sole source of up to date news.

I know it is probably crap to for me with such a low post count to ask a favor but I am going to do it anyway. I want you all to come out swinging for Mike. He has, in one beautiful compelling movie, synthisized what many here have been preaching to the choir.

He is getting our message out there and they will attack him with everything they have got. They are the most powerful and powerfully corrupt family in the world and we need to stand strong behind those who challenge them.

Mike is ready to defend himself. He has a team together to defend every fact in his movie and he has given a resource to back it up... http://www.michaelmoore.com/mustread/f911facts/index.php

We are his army. It is not enough that Mike counter attacks, we need to overwhelm the media with the truth.

And welcome to DU.

I agree, it is very important that we support MM by doing more than just going to the movie. (I already have my tickets and am going with quite a few friends to the opening performance.) We need to agree to work together to let the media know that WE STAND BY HIM and that THEY have lost all credibility precisely because they have uncritically allowed the Bush family and the neocons to LITERALLY get away with murder!

Edited to add:

You can call it whatever you want but to my mind not stopping 9/11 and then using that tragedy to justify a war that has killed thousands and has more to do with profit than even revenge (much less justice), is way beyond criminal negligence. These people are a threat to our national security and should be removed from office by all civil means available.

4. movie
I am going to see the movie with a friend on Saturday (that will be my first chance) I already have the tickets. We are making an occasion out of it!! we have waited for a long time to see this movie!

I am not that worried about the controversy and some criticism--usually these things just provide publicity and will end up helping the movie. It is better than having people ignore the film! Lots of people will want to see it for themselves if people are arguing about it. It is all good!

5. I've been at it all night long...woohoo
Hey LA.............welcome :hi:

I've written to MOVE AMERICA FORWARD. Blasted them. Wrote to that chick on KSFO to blast her. Wrote to my local TV News station to complain about an attempt by them to ADVICE PEOPLE NOT TO VIEW the film. I wrote to MSNBC about it. I signed the petition at Moveon.org about going to see the film. I don't have tickets because I can't see where it's showing yet, in my area. But I'm on board with the whole thing so, yeeehawwwwwwww

Now, I'm plumb tired out. My cramps have cramps. Whew! lol

7. Yay!
That is exactly what I am talking about. Great! And thank you!

"Oh cool! A controversy!", is not enough to combat the attacks on Mike. They are going to hit him with everything they've got and they have a whole hell of a lot more than we have. They have the whole fucking media. Controversy will get people in theaters, it won't necessary make them believe Mike's message.

10. Yeah
I have to give my friend credit though- he's one of the few Repubs. I know who actually has an open mind about things. He's still saying he'll vote for Bush, but after he sees the movie, who knows? ;)

9. The movie
I'm not asking for support of the movie... Although that's great, too. Mike himself needs support and the truth that he reveals in his movie will need support. The movie will do shit if the corporate media succeeds in convincing the majority of fence sitters that it chocked full of lies.

Fight the corporate media... flood them with the truth!

11. Just wrote Newsweek to ask what Isikoff's sources are
re date private jet exited U.S. with Saudis aboard following 9/11. I cited to a number of sources that say the Saudis had special permission to fly on 9/13/01. I think Isikoff claimed it was 9/14/01. Hope that helps Moore.

12. No problem
I've registered here maybe 32 hours ago, so I won't call it "crap" to ask for support. When "Bolling for Columbine" came out, I drove 3 car loads of people on 3 different occasions to see it (I'm a starving student, so this isn't easy for me). That's how I'm gonna support him again. I'll commit to going to see it thrice again, and I'll do my best to get a Republican and a Libertarian to go with me.

I'll also buy the DVD when it comes out and MAKE some Freepers I know watch it! I will challenge them, call them ignorant chickens until their ego can't take it any more. If afterwards they want to criticise the movie, then I'll listen to them. The most profound thing I saw in "Bolling" was the interview with Marilyn Manson when he said he would "listen to what they had to say" (the teens). This is how we must treat our less enlightened countrymen - with kid gloves and respect... except for the rabid BushBots. They're hopeless.

14. good idea on the newsweek BS.......I have an email for them, but
Edited on Mon Jun-21-04 03:07 AM by buycitgo
mine won't work

can someone copy this and send it?

START HERE

here's Michael Isikoff's mendacious "deconstruction" of the bin Laden flight story, in which he oversimplifies the confusing details, and LIES about what you really say:

The movie claims that in the days after 9/11, when airspace was shut down, the White House approved special charter flights so that prominent Saudis—including members of the bin Laden family—could leave the country. Author Craig Unger appears, claiming that bin Laden family members were never interviewed by the FBI. Not true, according to a recent report from the 9/11 panel. The report confirms that six chartered airplanes flew 142 mostly Saudi nationals out of the country, including one carrying members of the bin Laden family. But the flights didn't begin until Sept. 14—after airspace reopened. Moreover, the report states the Saudi flights were screened by the FBI, and 22 of the 26 people on the bin Laden flight were interviewed. None had any links to terrorism.

just in case you haven't already seen it, this begs a response

oh, and if you didn't see this, Dale Watson himself says witnesses weren't adequately questioned. from an almost three year old article:

Dale Watson, the FBI's former head of counter-terrorism, said that, while the bureau identified the Saudis who were on the plane, "they were not subject to serious interrogations."

15. I am curious about this quote from Isiprick, though
"Author Craig Unger appears, claiming that bin Laden family members were never interviewed by the FBI."

isn't that in the movie? if it was, did they take it out after he claims to have seen it?

this could be a big sticking point--look what they say at Moore's site

"Additionally, in an interview with author Craig Unger, the film makes reference to the fact that these individuals were briefly interviewed before they were allowed to leave."

so, what EXACTLY does Unger say in the movie? looks like somebody's got some splainin to do, and I SURE hope it's Elfikoff
