Carmike Cinemas and FH 9/11?
Don't know what happened to the really sweet receptionist who has been answering the phone at Carmike HQ the past couple of weeks, but this morning the new voice on the phone told me that a final decision on distribution of FH9/11 would be made by this afternoon. Absolutely no hint as to which way the powers-that-be are leaning.

The good (and potentially great and stunning) news is that I spoke with the day manager of the only theater (a Carmike) in my small Alabama town this morning, and this person was highly optimistic that not only would the movie be shown here, it was likely to among the theaters to premiere FH 9/11 this weekend! Maybe only others from small southern towns can understand my excitement at this news. Suffice it to say that if true, it will be no small miracle around here.

I am wondering if anyone else has heard news on Carmike distribution decision yet?

3. only one Carmike theater listed, though...
In Oakdale, MN, and that one has been on the f911tix.com website for weeks, despite the corporate decision being officially on hold. Someone at Carmike HQ said that listing shouldn't be there until the final company decision has been made, but it was never taken off the ticket purchase website. I wonder if anyone actually bought advance tickets for the Oakdale location...

I still think the news is going to be good for Carmike, but it is one of the last major chains to get off the fence. I don't know Carmike's reach nationwide, but here in the South it is a major chain.

2. Wow. Really? It's showing here in the heart of Bushland.
Which is also a religious area, as well. I don't understand why it'd have trouble showing other places if it's showing here in Bushland. Maybe because it's a small city/town. It is NOT showing in my hometown in south Louisiana....yet. But then they wouldn't show The Life of Brian, that other controversial religious movie (The Last Temptation, I think it was), etc., etc.

7. the smallest town in Alabama
that houses the largest university in the state. Does that narrow it down enough?!

I was born in Mobile, but it has been many moons since I've done more than drive through that area. I love Foley/Baldwin County. Used to visit friends on the canal often who were involved with HFH volunteer service. Do you do any hammering on Saturdays down there?

8. WooHoo!!
I live in Southwest Georgia...thought I was going to have to go to Jacksonville to see the movie.

That wouldn't have been a short trip.

12. what does your local theater say?
I've called every few days to check in with our local theater. The first couple of calls, no one seemed to even know the name of the movie. The past couple of calls, though, today's call in particular, the staff I talked to seemed very aware of the situation and hopeful that FH 9/11 would make it here. They are all careful to say that they don't have much power over what gets booked here, but I still get the sense that even local theaters are keeping track of who calls about the movie.

Call Carmike HQ at (706) 576-3400 - they are (or at least, were) keeping track of the comments received by phone the past couple of weeks.
