What will you do when DU is no longer allowed?
Because that is where we are headed, folks.

Wake up. We don't need pretty, photoshopped pictures to show us what is happening.

What will you do when that day comes that "they" decide to take you away for being an enemy of the state?

Have you thought about it? You should.

4. Sure we are
Members of this Fraudministration have already mentioned the "need" to regulate the internet and made references to "cyber terrorism", which has no definition, just as any other terrorism, as to who or what is considered a terrorist or terrorism. Asscrotch would interrogate each and every one of us if he had the budget and the stormtroopers needed to do so at his disposal. And when they determine that ALL opposition to state media must be silenced, sites like this one will be considered the "threat".

3. If * wins in November, then we ought to be worried.
* is only starting. I can see things getting a lot worse in a hurry. :-(

I can't say it will happen. But I sure as hell won't be adamant, as Marie Antoinette was, that it won't happen...

12. Thank you.
And I know I'm not always right, and sometimes I ignorantly storm in like a drunk peacock where learned Angels fear to tread, but I feel it's got to be said...

BTW: I can say the same for your posts being thoughtful as well. Very thoughtful indeed.

13. 3.5 years and counting...
With luck and some intrepidity from people with clout, it's still possible to get * out of power before it's too late. But as each day passes, the window of opportunity shrinks that much more.

With more than luck, we might be able to salvage this country if/when Kerry is voted in. It's hard not to be a pessimist, but it is always darkest before the dawn... of course, it's always darkest before the storm, so the only think I know is that it's very dark right now and that the next storm could be a real doozie... :-(

...who says DU will no longer be allowed? Do you know something I don't? Who exactly is the "they" you are referring to? Any links regarding investigations into DU that anyone knows about? There still is the 1st amendment to the constitution!

9. Don't remember the German general's name, but
his quote went something like this:

"First they came for the gypsies and I didn't say anything. Then they came for the communists and I didn't say anything. Then they came for the Jews and I didn't say anything. Then they came for me and there was no one left to say anything."

25. qoute from above site
'First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist, so I said nothing. Then they came for the Social Democrats, but I was not a Social Democrat, so I did nothing. Then came the trade unionists, but I was not a trade unionist. And then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew, so I did little. Then when they came for me, there was no one left to stand up for me.'

10. Perhaps PNAC will have a blog
and all DUers will be required by law to post happy thoughts there about why America needs more states ... and more warm water ports.

17. Where would those warm water ports be?
Since the North Sea is heating up, maybe we could all go for a Tropical cruise to the Jamaica of the North soon - England.

11. I have just been informed that the Emperor has disolved the DU...
"That's impossible, how will the Emperor maintian control without the illusion of free speech."

"The regional governors will now have direct control over their populations. Fear will keep the local citizenry in line, fear of Terrorism, and the fear of being named a terrorist."

I'll go with you to New Zealand, I want to learn the ways of peace and become a Democrat like my father.

15. Reality has no place here.
"Surely the cynically brutal, megalomaniacle sociopaths currently in power would not do anything that evil," the sheeple said as they were led to the trains.

Already thinking seriously about it anyway, but once they start shutting down progressive sites, I figure that the American Kristallnacht is not too far away.

and I am waiting for the tipping point - which is what the banning of progressive sites will herald, IMO.

24. I've got news for you. We are effectively in jail here.
I'm currently about to begin the immigration process in Canada. It takes a minimum of 1.5 years. And there is no guarantee I can get it. And the requirements are not easy to fulfill. What I've discovered is that money flows across borders, but people don't.
What I'm saying is that we are captives here. I never thought about it that way, until I thought about buying property in Canada, only to realize that I couldn't just go there and stay. Freedom? Huh!

26. What about a "trip" where you just don't come
back? You could go from country to country every few months so as not to be deported - stay below the radar, so to speak. Would the government bother tracking down everyone who fled?

Also, what about political asylum? If they start rounding up liberals and send us to "camp", woudln't we have a case for amnesty?

27. Yep.
Those are viable options. However, there still exists the possibility that during "special" times, they only let certain people out of the country.
It just strikes me as being anything BUT free. Freedom and liberty are words. They are no longer meaningful, except in the concept of extreme. Such as, at least we aren't being tortured. Great! And it's really a function of population, more than politics.

20. "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."
I know that the worst case scenario is possible, but there are still alot of sane people in this country -- witness the recent anti-bush declaration by veteran diplomats and military leaders.

I see no purpose in worrying about what *might* happen. I'll take my chances and keep working for a better future. If I end up in a gulag, I'll deal with it. The only constant in the Universe is CHANGE.
