Will the Republicans ever be held responsible to history ?
or what they did in the 1990's to Bill and Hillary Clinton and to so many of their friends? Although I disagree with the timing of Bill Clinton's memoir, I do not blame him for what transpired in the 1990's with the VRWC. Whitewater was a sham.

I just watched Susan McDougal on Deborah Norville's show and it is sad to think that she did 18 months in prison because she would not lie about Bill and Hillary Clinton. Ken Starr was the person that should have gone to prison. He still should go to prison for what he did. But he should not go alone.

There were many culprits in the Republican Party that took this country down a road we did not have to take and it was not healthy for our nation. They did not care about our nation. I do not know if they were looking for revenge for Richard Nixon and they simply wanted power. Whatever, they went to extremes in the Republican House and hte Republican Senate to destroy Bill Clinton. I do not excuse his affair with Monica Lewinsky. He should have known better.

But it was a human mistake. It was not a policy mistake. He did not invade Iraq on a lie. He told a lie about sex. The present occupant still cannot find anywhere that he can recall ever making a mistake. Bill Clinton admitted his.

But the bottom line is, Bill Clinton should not have been the "heavy" in this story. There are still Republican that should be prosecuted for what they did to people like Susan McDougal. Politics did not give them the right to destroy ordinary citizens. They were criminals in their acts. Now they still tlak about Bill and Hillary Clinton as if they were the evil ones in their passion play.

2. I don't think the current and past republicans care about their mark
on history.

It seems to me they want what they want now, power or revenge and it doesn't matter how history remembers this time, they will all be dead.

My uncle has this theory, crazy or not, that sometime in the future, Bush won't only have an * by his name, he will be removed from the record as President. He is of the mindset that once we truly find out the corruption of this administration and the corruption of 2000 that his name will be removed.

I don't know if that can actually happen but I believe history will judge them for the corrupt theives they really are.

3. I just saw Bill McCollum and Scarborough on the tube....
Talking with Jerry Brown and Carl Bernstein. Bernstein said Clinton was right - it was a badge of honor! That just about blew Scarborough's mind. MCollum was the House manager in the impeachment hearing. Both Scarborough and McCollum voted for impeachment, if I recall correctly. They should be judged appropriately by history. we can only hope.

4. What do you think of my uncles notion
that Bush's name will be removed as President of the United States?

I know that hasn't ever happened and I don't know if they would give Al Gore his rightful place or not but do you think that is just crazy talk from my uncle? Just curious what another dem feels about it because I am not sure.

5. Yes, well, thank God Larry Flynt scared them all away.
It could have gotten a lot of ugglier. And Larry was very, very kind to Bob Livingston, wasn't he Bob? Say, "yes," Bob, you miserable little wretch. Lick my boots. Kneel to mistress grendelsuncle.

7. Who could save the Republicans?

The Nazis who got away were mostly saved by the Vatican rat-line and our Operation Paperclip. The Vatican isn't as rich and powerful as it used to be, what with declining church attendance and those huge legal bills to defend pedophile priests. And I don't know of any rich and powerful fascist country that is likely to come to the aid of U.S. Republicans. Saudi Arabia might wish to, but they're likely to be having problems of their own. If you were a puke seeking asylum from prosecution for war crimes or war profiteering, where would you go? There are a few countries that might take you if you've got enough money stashed offshore, but would you feel safe in Pakistan or the Phillipines?
