1. Oh God, I can't tell if they're serious or not

the PABAAH guy on the Daily Show was so dumb, yet so serious, that I thought he must be an actor, and the whole thing just a spoof of similar rantings. But the PABAAH home page has what looks like a standard 'boycott Michael Moore' content (no jokes) - and I know that's real.

Yet they're also calling for such horrors as 'Garfield - the Movie' to be boycotted, without explaining why (they have something against Alan Cumming, perhaps? But what? They don't say). And they want to boycott 'The Chronicles of Riddick'. All they have to say about it is that it stars Judi Dench. She's a Dame of the British Empire, for crying out loud! You can't get more Establishment than that!

So is the whole thing an elaborate spoof, or do they really have members who boycott anything without demanding a reason?

I saw this guy Alvarez on Scarborough Country once with Ed Asner there to defend himself (unusual kudos to Scarborough). Alvarez went on a whole riff about Ed hating our troops and calling our them "mercenaries." Ed said he never said such a thing. Alvarez responded with a release from some anti-war group Asner belongs to, which called on the US to stop funding private armies of "assassins." There was no mention of mercenaries, so Alvarez started berating Asner for calling our troops "assassins," when it was quite obvious that the letter was referring to the private armies.

Even Scarborough looked like he thought the guy was nuts.
