Iran captures "Coalition" ship. Viet Nam hype all over again?
Edited on Tue Jun-22-04 12:37 AM by donhakman
Supposedly it is a UK ship outside territorial waters (everyone has a different number)

Remember the US ship that was captured and a BIG deal was made of it?

With virtually every US navy ship away on war game maneuvers, this may be the nuclear trigger Bushco has planned.

This huge Naval operation could be anything. It may be just to keep some Admirals busy that were critisizing Bush publicly.
It may be the way the Iran war is to start.

This incident with Iran may even be completely bogus.

3. Here's a link to the actual story...sounds like UK commandos got caught...
...trying to infiltrate Iran's coastline:

<http://news.ft.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=FT.com/StoryFT/FullStory&c=StoryFT&cid=1087373151539>

"The British government was trying to prevent the escalation of a diplomatic row with Tehran last night over the seizure of three small Royal Navy vessels inside Iranian territorial waters.

'We are hoping that this is a low-level incident which will not turn into something bigger,' a Foreign Office spokesman said last night.

He was speaking after it emerged that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had seized three British patrol craft yesterday and arrested eight Royal Navy personnel on the Shatt al-Arab waterway that divides Iran from Iraq, after they had apparently strayed into Iranian waters."

4. I know Iran isn't really a military powerhouse
But they are going to have to send more than eight soldiers if they want to overthrow them.

...8 guys in three boats. At this point there's no way of telling how many other UK troops have already infiltrated the Iranian coast.

Additionally, the Israeli Mossad was reported recently to be operating with the Kurds in northern Iraq, and also infiltrating the Iranian border.

If you remember correctly, you'll recall that one of the first things we did before invading Iraq was to send in teams of Special Forces.

You may also recall that we are going to have an unusually large number of carrier battle-groups (7) going to sea for maneuvers early this summer. Additional troops have also been called up, and military retirements have been stopped.
