Last Night's DAILY SHOW should be news all by itself
The videos of Cheney saying exactly what he swore to god he didn't say; the Steven Hayes smack-down...if you're a progressive/liberal/whatever, it'll make you feel proud, and maybe, just maybe, not quite as hopeless. Those clips, the juxtaposition of Cheney's vehement assertion that "I never, never said that" followed by the video...CNN could have lead with that story today. Seriously...the VP caught fork-tongued in one of the lies that led us to war...then Bush doing it...then Rummy...this was not a mere comedy show...it was news!

There are real heroes in this battle already, and Stewart (and Michael Moore) are right there at the top of the list, imo.

2. It was so good, I stayed up to watch the repeat at Midnight.
Edited on Tue Jun-22-04 08:45 AM by lovedems
It was the best Daily Show ever. I saw some posts that said it wasn't as funny as it normally is but I thought it was the funniest. Nothing gives me a better laugh then watching a conservative get bitch slapped.

John Stewart made me proud last night!

Agreed. It should be all over the mainstream news.

3. It was one of the best yet. He totally demolished
that hack, Stephen Hayes, he of the 'connection' conspiracy.
Although Stewart did a number on Clinton in the opening segment, he roared right back with the Cheney lie bit.

7. Once he does make a clip, if he does
We should send it to the media and ask them why a comedy show is doing better journalism than they are.

23. Exactly.
It actually makes me sick when a "fake" news show has better information than the mainstream. Hear that, CNN et al? YOU'RE PATHETIC!

10. I just watched the first segment
And all I could think was, WOW! If only the real press were this gutsy and factual. It's a shame that I have to watch the Daily Show to get real news.

13. Just as in Medieval England, when the court jesters were the
only ones allowed to speak the truth, through comedy.

We are back in the Dark Ages, and it sucks big time.

Thank god for Jon Stewart, court jester extraordinaire.

15. "Mr. Vice-President, your pants are on fire."
I loved that line.

And Steven Heyes didn't seem totally committed to his book. I got the impression that he didn't believe everything that he had written.

16. Did it cut out for you last night at 10?
After the interview was over, it didn't come back for the "moment of Zen" or credits or anything. Did this happen for you too? It just went from interview to commercial to Quinn's show....

Did this happen to you?

22. 100% right!
Why is it that a "comedy fake news show" is the most insightful and hardest hitting? Why do reporters wear such soft gloves nowadays? Why the fuck does every reporter want to be friends with the president instead of reporting the facts and asking the hard questions and following them up with even harder questions??

Give it to Jon and the staff of the Daily Show.

Moore was correct in saying that if the press did its job we wouldn't be in this mess right now!!!

A Pathetic Excuse for a pResident
