MSNBC front page "Bush Loses Advantage" graphic...it's a "keeper"

...and the photo accompanying the actual article is even better (it showed up in a few DU posts yesterday as well):

Bush loses advantage in war on terrorism
Poll: Nation evenly divided on president, Kerry

The president is viewed as a stronger leader than Kerry and as the candidate who can be most trusted in a crisis. He is also seen as best able to "make the country safer and more secure" and the one who "takes a position and sticks with it."

But by 52 percent to 39 percent, Kerry is seen as more honest and trustworthy -- a troubling finding for Bush, whose truthfulness before the war in Iraq has been called into question.

work, let's try Gay Marriage. This is going to be the next talking point and whores in the media will just go along.

19. Welcome. Sadly, I agree. That'll be the next issue used to
whip folks up into a frenzy. And abortion too.

We always come back to those two with the repubs.

23. This sh * t is
serious. Con Man Bill Kristol said something to that effect. If the issue in Nov is gay marriage Bush has a good chance of winning.

25. Unless people feel more compelled to vote their wallets...
Granted, I know many hardliners who will not budge on the abortion and gay marriage issues, but there are others who depsite feelings strongly on those issues are either haunted by the horror of Iraq or ticked off at the lack of $$ coming into their homes these days.

9. There's been a sharp increase in "photojournalism"...
...where Bush is concerned. We're seeing a definite increase in the "no way they picked that photo at random" type of sly commentary on Bush. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the editing room...

6. "truthfulness called into question"?
There's no question anymore. How about "lied and defrauded the public into an illegal occupation"?

I understand this is a mainstream media article, but it's funny to me that we all just accept the fact the large media outlets never state obvious fact. It's a surreal world where an oblique acknowledgement of reality is shocking.

8. I heard an anchor on one of AM shows say that Bush's poor
ratings are due to the media spending a dissportionate amount of time on Iraq over the last year and not on the great economic news.

I kid you not.

28. The US middle class was not built nor can it be sustained by
low wage jobs with crappy benefits. Since the majority of the new jobs fall into this catagory, Shrub's so-called job creation success seriously distorts the truth.

29. I read something on thier fake numbers
Edited on Tue Jun-22-04 11:19 PM by WLKjr
a while back. Something about how their job numbers are wrong becuase the jobs being "created" don't come anywhere near the number lost. If I am not mistaken it was explained like you have -1000 jobs already and loose another 1000 making it -2000 jobs, and some one hires a person for 7 bux an hour that takes it to -1999 jobs but you created a job!?!?!?!?!?

It seems that they are counting jobs a little odd. I don't believe you created anything since you are still in the red job wise. I can't find the link that...........er wait a minute here it is.

http://www.moveleft.com/moveleft_essay_2004_06_07_fake_job_numbers_from_bush.... and it trails off the paper

The article is by Eric Jaffa, June 7 2004.

From what I read if true is pretty disturbing.

14. Yeah, that's why they're pushing John Snow into the spotlight more often..
...with his "The economy is firing on all cylinders!" crap.

I mean, he's such an honest, trustworthy, fatherly figure...not a trace of evil...if HE says the high paying jobs are back and it's only going to get better, it must be true...right?

Check this out:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/ask/20040618_2.html

"Marilyn, from Atlanta, GA writes: I keep reading about how the economy is turning around. However, I see more and more people out of work, more houses reposessed, more qualified people accepting lower status and lower paying jobs. Now we're battling inflation on top of this decline. Where is the big turnaround?

John Snow: More Americans are working today in America than at any other time in our history and more own their own home. At the same time, real disposable income is at an all-time high.

The unemployment rate is lower than the average of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. In nine consecutive months of job growth we’ve added more than 1.4 millions jobs.

We’re encouraged by this, but not satisfied. There is more to be done and the President is committed to ensuring that every American looking for work can find a job.

he would still get 47% of the vote. If he captures bin Laden and rapes one of his kids he gets 48% of the vote.

22. Someone trained him to make that "comressed lips" face
Edited on Tue Jun-22-04 11:09 AM by Marianne
In the beginning of his reign, we did not see this face. Then it began to turn up, a la Clinton , who often was photographed with the same compressed lips, supposedly determined face. Except that Bush is so incompetent and such a bad actor that the face actually turns against him--instead of looking determined he looks petulant.
