Review: Moore, Gibson Films Share Traits

Michael Moore has more in common with Mel Gibson than he'd probably like to admit.

Like Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ," which had both supporters and detractors in a tizzy before they'd even seen a minute of it, Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" has liberals and conservatives alike scrambling to spin the film's content for their political and personal purposes.

And like "The Passion," the director's new documentary will reinforce whatever opinions people had when they walked into the theater - about both President Bush, its subject, and Moore himself.

So if you think Bush is a buffoon who cares more about protecting his friends' and family's oil connections than protecting the country's best interest, you'll continue to think that. Likewise, if you think Moore is strident and self-important, and that he's attacking the president to further his own agenda, you'll find that "Fahrenheit 9/11" validates that opinion.

1. How about if I go in thinking Bush* is a really smart man?

Will I still think that when I walk out. What a piece of shit review this is. It jumps from thinking about Bush* being a buffoon and Moore being strident. It doesn't say it will reinforce any positive thoughts about Bush* only anger at Moore for showing such a film. I guess that is all the Republicans have. Anger and Hate. It must really be a sad state of affairs for any real thinking Republican.

He is talking about the conservative media (Rush, Fox, Hannity, etc). But I think it can apply to our side to. I do wonder if anyone is going to see Moore's film and vote differntly than they would have without it.

6. FWIW, my Nana, a lifelong Repub

changed her opinion of Bu$hco after Dad gave her Palast's "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy" and a few other eye-opening books.

Some folks may be swayed by Moore's film, I think.

First post ... whoohoo! Anyway, James Berardinelli -- a film reviewer I generally like -- has a new review of Moore's F911 in which he's fairly critical (2.5 stars out of 4). It won't keep me from seeing it, of course.
