Zell Miller is at it again
A right wing website called rightmarch.com took out a full page ad in USA Today today and Zell Miller is featured prominently. It features his floor statement on the situation at Abu Ghraib prison, where he supports Inhofe's insane statement about being "outraged over the outrage". The web site is full of hateful rhetoric about everything progressive, equating Moveon.org with Nazis, etc. When will Miller just admit he isn't a Democrat and go away? Better yet, why doesn't the Democratic Party just throw him out? The ad is on page 6c in case anyone is interested. It says that all who condemn the prison abuse are "giving aid and comfort to the enemy". To me, that alone is enough to toss Mr. Miller out of the Democratic Party.

1. I've had a gripe with the Democratic Party for some time about
tolerating politicians like him. This is beyond us being a big tent. When we allow people that are clearly conservatives and right wing wack jobs under the tent, we lose our distinct identity and what we stand for.

2. We have a long history of it.
Remember the Dixiecrats? Strom Thurmond was a Democrat once.

3. There isn't much the Democrats can do
It is settled law that people who win primaries get to run as Democrats. He actually won't caucus with us in the Senate by his own volition. His senority is pretty low anyway.

8. I find that doubtful ~ The Republicans successfully rid themselves of
David duke as a Republican. They took away his status as a Republican saying he did not reflect the values of the Party. The Democrats need to do the same thing and before the election. Not just let him ride off into the sunset with Democrat attached to his name. He is as ugly to the Democrats as Duke is to Moderate Republicans. He is harmful to our party.

4. We here in GA apologize to the country
For the love of God. Please don't think we're all like this idiot. I've said numerous times that I really believe he is suffering from some sort of dementia. He's like that crazy uncle that you keep locked in the attic when company comes over.
He is an embarrassment to the State of Georgia and a disgrace to the Democratic Party.

7. Apology accepted
but in reality, if you didn't vote for him, there's no reason to apologize. I have an old and dear friend who lives outside of Atlanta, and I would say to not judge all Iowans by him if you were to meet him. I suppose Miller appealed to the under educated people of Georgia, although since I don't live there, I couldn't really say for sure. When Miller comes up for re-election, hopefully a good candidate will oppose him and the good people of Georgia will boot him.

9. Mercifully, he's done
Thank God for small miracles.
He's not running for re-election. The Dems have a great candidate that they are as usual ignoring. Her name is Mary Squires.

10. I think he's possessed
I'm serious. Either that, or seriously ill -- and I mean SERIOUSLY ill. He was never like this when he was Gov. of Georgia. He wouldn't have been my favorite Dem ever when he was Gov., but he was an actual Democrat.

And let's be real: anyone who can't see that what happened to prisoners at Abu Ghraib was torture has a screw loose to start with.

When Zell took over after Coverdell's death (for a few months before the Fall election -- he was chosen BECAUSE of his name recognition in GA which would make his actual first election so much easier), he stepped into Coverdell's offices, and kept most if not all his staff, including Coverdell's chief of staff. Zell was also good friends with Coverdell, apparently (wtf?), and deeply affected by his death.

But dayamn!! He didn't need to be SO deeply affected that he turned into a less charming version of him!

By this time I think he's gone all passive-aggressive. I think one of the blogs had a comment that the Dem leadership excludes him in most things and he caucuses with the Repugs. So, he's getting back at them.

Or maybe he's scared shitless re terror, 9-11 and all the rest.

Or all of the above.

In any case, ya'll at least realize he's not running again and his 15 minutes of fame (or infamy) are up come November 2.
