You know what though? if they do give Howard the boot I'll bet anyone he'll get signed by Sirius (NOT XM since they're clear channel owned) and he'll boost their sales through the roof and his ratings will be higher than ever since he'll be under no FCC watchdog.

2. First of all, Clearchannel doesn't own XM, that's a bogus story

and second of all, who gives a flying fuck if this is good for sattelite radio? Free speech has LOST. People shouldn't have to pay money to hear Howard Stern. And your assumtion that his ratings would skyrocket is retarded, excuse me but I'm sorry, SOME of his hardcore fans would get the sattelite radios and it would be therefor a boon to that industry since he has so many fans, but his ratings would plummet and there's no 2 ways about that.

According to this, XM and Sirius have a combined listernship of 2.5 million. Let's say Howard triples that(assuming he actually is on both netoworks which wouldn't happen). He will still be heard by less people than he is now. That is assuming that every single XM/Sirius listener tunes into him, which is pretty far fetched.

He would certainly raise the companies stock but his own will go down a bit. Whether this would even out over time is hard to tell as Howard's Tits & Ass fest(don't get me wrong I think Howard is great) may not seem as charming when he's in his 50's and 60's. And that is when the Sat companies are predicting their listernership to approach commercial radio.

7. He's not going anywhere

His ratings have hit the roof since his Clear Channel incident. And the folks at Viacom (especially Les Moonves) have vowed to stick with him. Yes, his show will probably tone down considerably, but I like the new, politically active Stern much better.

I see him rejuvenating his career with the Bush-bashing. After all, how long can anyone sustain a career talking dirty to strippers? After twenty years or so, the jokes get kinda stale. And with the FCC breathing down his neck, isn't it time to think outside the box a little?

Now his new tact is doing the ultimate in modern shock radio: Bashing George Bush. And there's nothing spelled out by the FCC that says it's obscene, right? Yet it still shocks people.

His show weathered 'Political Correctness'. Now he's taking on 'Patriotic Correctness'. Whether he intended to do it, or just fell into his new tactic, it is still a stroke of genius, and makes him more relevant today.

And his ratings show this.

12. His career isn't about talking dirty to strippers. It's about being honest

and poking holes in everybody's hypocracy. Most of the throw away slogan's and meaningless you just used are straight out of statist anti-Stern establishment who judge Stern without having every listened to his radio show. They've just seen his tv show and think that's all he is.

I love Howard but most of his schtick is about boobs and humilating women. Honesty? Yes, in the raw human animal kind of way. You've really bought the intellectual rationalization for Howard haven't you? He's an excellent entertainer, he's hilarious at times. But there's no need to justify one laughing at a woman having lunch meat thrown on her ass, it just funny.

16. His TV show only shows the most racy parts of his radio show

and the parts of his radio show that are least entertaining on radio comparativly. People don't tune into his radio show for the stuff you watch on the tv show in audio mode. Most people I know who listen including myself enjoy the opinion part of the show more than anything. Howard playing clips and then commenting on them. Howard commenting on big stories during the show, and of course the news at the end of the show. And callers calling in about various things. None of this kind of thing get's shown on the tv show.

15. I've listened to his radio show more than I've seen his TV show

Granted, he is one of the best interviewers in the business, but he is widely known for raunchy humor. Nothing wrong with that, but do people still laugh at the same jokes after two decades?

I'm just exaggerating, his show is much more. What I'm saying is, is going 'left' the new shock radio? Let's see the FCC fine him for bashing Bush.
