Hezbollah and Michael Moore?
What is the deal with this? I have seen people talking about this on other forums with topics like "Terrorists approve of F911".

1. Joe "The Murderer of Lori Klaustis" Scarbourough said the same thing.

2. Moore has no control
over what a foreign distributor does. He sold the rights to the distributor, and if that distributor makes a deal with Hezbollah there is nothing he can do about it.

7. Moore sold the rights to a company called Front Row
and Hezbollah is helping FR publicise the film. They are not dealing with Moore himself.

13. I'm glad this was posted
RWers are talking about this, and trying to smear MM with it.

And, as usual, it was debunked on DU.

Good job, gang!

16. can that be confirmed?
I have seen the opposite. Hizbu'llah will make no comment when asked, and the Front Row company claims no knowledge of the contact, nor does the distributing company in Lebanon.

for reference,
http://www.dailystar.com.lb/article.asp?edition_id=1&categ_id=2&article_id=5508

...snip...Cynthia Haddad, marketing manager for Joseph Chakra and Sons - the company distributing the movie in Lebanon - said that they have not been contacted by anyone concerning the distribution of the movie in Lebanon.

"Nobody tried to offer any help distributing the movie, nor has anyone put any pressure on us not to distribute it," she said...snip...

19. That's my understanding of it
going by the same worldnetdaily article. their own article is basically about the distributor, not moore himself.

11. I just googled it
and the first result under "Michael Moore" hezbolla was a freeper thread
http://209.157.64.200/focus/f-chat/1155566/posts

which linked to this World Net Daily article
http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=39012

It's very short

Opponents of filmmaker Michael Moore are making the most of an endorsement his Bush-bashing film "Fahrenheit 9/11" received from terrorists affiliated with Hezbollah.

The Guardian of London reported today organizations related to the Middle East-based terrorist network have offered to help promote the film in the United Arab Emirates. "

22. From your own link ....
-snip-

The clip started airing a few days ago.

"The suffering of Jesus Christ is a universal theme. It is something everyone, including us as Muslims, believes in," Ibrahim Mousawi, who heads Al-Manar's political programs, told The Associated Press on Saturday.

"We are simply using a universal theme to get an important message across: that the pain of the Iraqi people is deep, the level of torture appalling," Mousawi said.

Muslims revere Jesus Christ as a prophet but not as the messiah. They believe someone else was crucified in his place.

"The Passion of the Christ" received an exceptionally warm welcome and drew large audiences in the Arab world, which usually bans movies depicting any of the prophets recognized by Islam.

The original poster asked if Hezbollah endoresed the film b/c it showed the Jews in a bad light. I haven't seen anything stating that specifically.

I just said it was stupid to say that Michael Moore is Arafat in a Fat Suit.

Really, can't people talk about something other than MM's weight?

30. You didn't ask a question, but you still chose to reply to my post
Anyone with a background in Hollywood makeup would tell you that the easist way to cover someone's identity is put them in a fat suit.

Arafat would be more recognizable if he were his own standard weight, how he deals with the summer heat is his problem, not ours.

Are you getting it yet? Or, does this thread need some more of the blatant inanity it deserves?

8. I wouldn't care if so, but is apparently inaccurate
Edited on Tue Jun-22-04 02:06 PM by Aidoneus
Hizbu'llah's office in Beirut claims no interest in commenting on the matter. The company in the UAE that is supposedly where the connection was offered claims no knowledge of the matter, and suspects it is completely false.

Such a term to describe them, however, is inaccurate as well.

I don't expect any of this subtlety--"truth" being an inconvenient formality--to be picked up by any of the propagandists spinning so wildly.
