Is Kerry really lying low?
Edited on Tue Jun-22-04 08:43 PM by saywhat
I hear about him being on the campaign trail all the time. Unfortunately our rightwing media doesn't cover his events and speeches. Because of this, I think there's a misconception about Kerry's level of participation in this presidential race. Seems to me that he's in, he's on the move, he's achieving his goals (financial and political), but none of the above is being reported. So, is it time for we DUers to let go of the notion that Kerry is an uninvolved candidate?

2. I agree, he is hitting the streets hard and building his campaign offices
we just had a staffer arrive here a month ago and a full blown office will be up and running next month with 11-15 full time staffers over the summer with more in the fall

I am seeing plenty of his ads here too on local TV

he's doing what he needs to do

for you who think he's not a tough and smart campaigner go look at some of the old Boston papers reports on his Senate races. He's a pro and he's doing great!

4. no, most of his events are open to public, just because whores don't
report it doesn't mean it isn't happening. kerry is very much out there. you usually have to look at local news to find info on it. but he is out there holding many rallies with huge crowds. like yesterday he was in colorado, but on du we mostly heard of it from a few du members who actually attended the event. but this is something he does almost every day.

and you are right, he ins't laying low. many times people complain aboutkerry not doing or saying something about an issue when he has already said it.

8. one of the reasons he won iowa when many his campaign was over
was because he kept on campaigning and going to the people asking for their votes. the big media didn't report on it much. but that didn't stop him from campaigning. and all that hard work paid off in the end. i remember reading about it from regular people in iowa who wrote up what they saw online. and they did say kerry's crowds were getting bigger. this gave me some hope . this was also around the time when i read about many who were undecideds that finally decided to vote for kerry.

6. Considering that he isn't even officially the candidate,
I think he's doing ok, for now. If the media continues to give him so little coverage after the nomination, though.... GRR. Hopefully, the combo of a VP choice and the official nomination will focus a lot more attention on his campaign!

7. He is being bashed by many here for not being in the media enough.
Like there's anything he can do about that.

while some are really concerned and really don't know what is going on. there are others whohave an agenda and just want to attack kerry.

10. That's why I started this thread.
I'd like people to understand what's going on. The anti-Kerry folks are obviously not going to care though.

13. I think Kerry is in Stealth mode
he's raising tons of cash and i see him on cspan. Bush is in a heap of trouble right now so i think that Kerry doing his own thing and letting Bush continue to dig his hole deeper without beating the shit out of him is working well. Kerry's poll numbers are up and *'s are continuing to slide downhill and more bad news is sure to come for the boy king.

14. I don't think he's in any kind of mode.
I'm not privy to the campaign's inner workings, but it appears that Kerry is doing what candidates do at this stage in a presidential election, only his actions are not being reported much. I hope he gets more coverage soon.

11. Only in the media
it was eported in another thread that Kerry raised more money then W last month and you know the little monkey has more funraisers than anyone in recent history. So do the math.

12. I heard Kerry raised more than * over the last 2 months.
Of course AWOL had much more to begin with, but it appears *'s well has gone dry. :D

15. What gets me is that the pundits keeps saying Clinton is sucking all
the media attention away from Kerry. I laugh and ask...What media attention? They won't give it to him anyway! But we have to listen to every speech Bush gives on every cable channel over and over...but Kerry can't get a word in edgewise. Thanks for reminding us that Kerry is working hard behind the scenes.

16. The only thing that worries me about attn. on Clinton's book
is that is distracts from news about AWOL's crimes in Iraq and the U.S. Like you said Clinton isn't taking anything away from Kerry, and in fact is probably helping to give Dems the bully pulpit.
