than our buddies to the south

3. If Harper wins...
AND

Bush steals it again, We will have to look elsewhere for a place to flee.

No doubt in my mind that Nazi Bush will then do the Änschlüss with at least Alberta to get hold of the Tar Sands (AND a whole bunch of new Nazi voters...)

Costa Rica looks better every day...

5. Easy. It will be a minority.
But whose, I don't know. In a way, I'd like to see Harper get it, just so the country can see what he and his minions are really made of. Then his govt can be brought down and his Reform Alliance Conservative party can be sent to history's wastebasket where it belongs.

6. Just a question:
My last name is Canada.

Does that entitle me to a faster track to citizenship while I shake off all this Bush filth that I've been steeped in for the past 4 years?

Will you welcome me with flowers and joyous song? A coffee mug or a bus token?

Geeze, you canucks are difficult to impress.

9. That's the weird thing...
Edited on Wed Jun-23-04 12:31 AM by Treaghon
So far we're (the Canadas of NC) of Dutch-German decendance.

We tried to trace us back, but this geneology computer program can only take us so far. Not sure where to go next.

Oh, our German name is pretty bad. It's Klutz. Spelled and pronounced exactly like you think. As for the name Canada, we've been told that it's the coolest last name some have come across.

I've never been to Canada, and I intend to go, but I'm still proud of our name.

12. You know what?
You just told me something an up-to-date geneology program never bothered to tell us.

I had no idea it meant anything other than the country. I tip my hat to you. Thanks!

13. only thing is, he'd make a lot of people miserable ...
Massive cutbacks to the safety net, honkin' big deficit, and our troops going wherever Bush wants. If the US experience is any example, it would take years to clean up the mess!

Usually a party with a minority ends up getting a majority later ... the exception being Joe Clark (who compared to Harper is looking pretty good now, though he's retired from politics).

Globe and Mail info yesterday put the Grits ahead nationally -- this is going to be a regional thing, so the nationwide %s may not be as helpful if it's close. I really hope that Ontario pretty much shuts out the neo-Cons like in 2000. And that BC fields more Liberal and NDP MPs. If that happened, I wouldn't even be too upset if my particular candidate lost to the Greens (that would make history anyway).

11. How prone are Canadians

to strategic voting?

It sounds like Liberal and NDP supporter both dislike Harper quite a bit and I assume, especially in Ontario, there are several Ridings that strategic voting would tank the Cons.
