I was just was on C-Span and made some folks mad !
I got through as I have many times but when this republican
kept talking about evil and Saddam using chemicals on his own people I asked him Did we or Did we not use chemicals on our own people in Vietnam..AGENT ORGANGE ! He danced I said ANSWER THE QUESTION !
First I said No way could Bush look into Putin's soul. He isn't God ..After they hung up on me the conressman was still trying to answer the question about Agent Orange. I gave my name and was one of their C-Span winners. But I am tired of hearing about Saddam using chemicals and we look ever so innocent !

The other thing is that women in Iraq had much better education than in most of the other Arab countries.

7. I heard you too.
The thing I get so sick of hearing is that "these people are evil". By labelling broadly "people" as "evil", it has created a tendency for the general public here to consider all Arabs/Moslems as evil. THese concrete thinkers we have in power now are absolutists who refuse see the shades of gray in the world. That rep. was particularly well indoctrinated.

38. It really bothers me that Bush is using
our military personnel to convert the Muslims to Christianity. He's doing the same thing the Jehovah Witnesses, Mormon, etc. do when they come to your door, only in a violent way, and in our name. This needs to stop. He never misses a chance to say we're fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them over here, which is a dare to them in my book. This man has got to be removed from office by any means possible.

not even down just a little deep.

If they *did* care, there wouldn't be 18,000 USians dying every year from lack of medical care, not to mention the thousands that will die in Iraq from this damnable war.

He serves on the armed services committee and foliage destruction is not a good answer on Dow Chemical killing our people. Dow got the contract and our men died and so die a lot of Vietnamese. Now only a fool would dump chemicals killing jungles and think it wouldn't hurt man. Dioxin is the most lethal herbicide known to man.

40. Dioxin is formed in the production of herbicides like 2-4-D and ...
... 2,4,5-T. Those were the primary ingredients of Agent Orange.

Farmers have been using herbicides for weed control for years.

http://www.lyghtforce.com/HomeopathyOnline/issue5/articles/ritchie_orange.html

Agent Orange: code name for mixture of 2,4,5-T (2,4,5.-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid; 545.4 Kg/m3) and 2,4-D (2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid; 485.1 kg/m3), altogether weighing 1 285 kg/m3; a herbicide; associated with the (2,4,5-T moiety is the impurity dioxin (2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p- dioxin).

41. They can't anymore. Dow got sued ! Not the same stuff they sprayed
This is the crust of the whole matter. Dioxin is the shortnened name for it. They sprayed Dioxin to kill the foliage in Vietnam and would drop trees and burn up the greenery. The stuff fell like snow and NOW the VA says if you were even in the country between the sprayings you were resumed exposed. Doesn't mean they do that much but there is a register in Washington for people who were exposed to Agent orange. Now..It has caused somany diseases after the tissues break down and is directly linked to Dioxin. Cancer ....Biggie !
I have worked on this for years with the Veterans Administration and they knew darn well when they sprayed something like that, what effect it would have on the Vietnamese and Veterans. We are not Pure. We used chemicals on our own people and it was past time needing to be said !

If it killed weeds in your lawn in the '60s or '70s, it had 2,4,5-T in it.

We used a lawn chemical service two years ago, and both of my dogs died of bladder cancer within 13 months. The dogs were NOT related.

44. Big fights at the time
I worked for the forest service in '74. Citizens were already fighting dioxin then, birth defects noted, all kinds of stuff. I don't know how many years people were fighting it, or remember how long it took to get it banned, or how many cancer pockets and other health problems we had as a result.

70. because the agrochemical industry and their purchased
whitecoats and congresscritters didn't care how many people dropped dead, as long as the profits rolled in. Linda Lear's biography of Rachel Carson and "Trust Us, We're Experts!" provides some insight into this seamy world.

39. good for you vetwife
Joe Wilson (R-Idiot) is the congresscritter for the district where I live. Note: I can't bear to use the possessive pronoun 'my' when speaking of him. What a dumbass sickening POS. He replaced another evil dumbfuck who died. The fools here in the 2nd District of SC really know how to pick 'em, eh?

Problem is the district and the state are full of congenital repukes. They don't know anything but the GOP and think SC has always been red. I love reminding them that it only went GOP because of antipathy to civil rights and racism. So lot of poor whites continue to vote against their best interests by selecting repukes. And of course, Wilson and his ilk (the whole GOP as far as I'm concerned) appeal to base instincts and stupidity. When will the sheeple realize they are being screwed?

Anyway, keep up the good work.

43. I heard you too
That was great. I tried for over 1/2 hour, but couldn't get through.

He rattled that crap off about how 9/11 had changed us and that bush was fighting terror. I wanted so badly to agree with him, that yes, the country *had* changed since 9/11, and that bush's policies since that time have made our country, and the world, LESS safe. How can these RW morons not realize that bush's tragic invasion of Iraq was a DIVERSION from the war on terror!

Something else he said had me seeing red but don't recall what that was just now.

Congrats to you for getting through... it's tough!

Trust me they won't ever let me demand accountability from the higher ups but I sure liked how old Katherine Harris got put on the spot and I especially loved Helen Thomas writing to me after I put Katy there !

67. My hubby got caught in the agent orange spray, he gets a brochure
his sister somehow got started coming to him on it. I think she registered him with agent orange vets/something but he surely hasn't gotten any compensation for it.
