Every time I see Nedra Pickler's byline on an AP article, I brace myself. So maybe that's an indication that I've developed an unfair bias -- based on past experience with reading her unfair bias against Democrats.
Only a couple of days ago she was sneering about Kerry being a "rich man," informing us that the Chimp vacations in a more acceptable manner. Today she's making snide remarks about Kerry's return to the Senate to vote for "more spending on veterans' health care."
"As he returned to the campaign trail after a
one-day interruption for Senate business, the four-term Massachusetts lawmaker made it clear that he would
try to make the political maneuvering in the Senate an issue in his presidential bid."
"Kerry told donors at a $2 million breakfast..." (As if it were $2 million a plate!)
Then we get FOUR paragraphs of quoted Republican spin. Next we're reminded that he's "rarely in Washington to vote," but that he wanted to cast a vote for veterans not because he cares about them, and is in fact one of them, but because they are "a Republican-leaning group that he is targeting..."
He doesn't get rousing applause the way Chimpy does, he gets "applause from
his supporters."
To me, she sounds heavy on sarcasm when she says Kerry can use the Republicans' stalling the vote to "claim that even when he
moved heaven and earth to get to the Senate, the Republicans wouldn't let him participate."
And when she ends with the quote from Kerry, "These people are so petty, so sad, so political, that all they could do is spend the whole day finding a way not to let John Kerry vote," she has to add the sting "
Kerry said in a speech to the Service Employees International Union." That's a clever summary of "All he does is campaign and then expects to be able to vote as if he moved heaven and earth to interrupt his campaigning for one day to make a rare appearance in the Senate, then he uses it to complain for political points to unions."
Nothing about how the Republicans in the Senate jerked him around.
Nothing about his record as a veteran and as a Senator who cares about veterans.
Nothing about the demands of the party on him as our Democratic nominee to be out there campaigning every day.
Nothing about the time the Chimp takes away from his desk to be out on the campaign trail.
So is it just me, am I reading too much into it, have I just come to hate her, or is Nedra Pickler one of the worst media ho's out there?
